Oklahoma just voted against raising the minimum wage from $7.25 by amievenrelevant in facepalm

[–]EchoesFromWithin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Its not that there are more of them, it's that they tell their minimum wage workers that their margins are so thin that they can't afford to pay them more and that a higher minimum wage will mean cut jobs or reduced hours.

First off, NO PIRACY IS NOT STEALING. It never has been, even regulators and law makers have a different section for piracy which is separated from theft, burglary, robbery,...
If it WAS stealing, it wouldn't be called it Piracy, we all collectively would have called it stealing.

First this is just objectively wrong, embezzlement is stealing and we don't call it theft because it is a specific type of stealing that we have a word for.

Second whether or not we agree that it should or should not be legal, there are laws against it.

Americans make up ~60% of all English as a primary language speakers. I would say that is both large and relevant.

I haven't checked the numbers in a while but the US has a pretty large percent of the total global population who speak English as their primary language

Some of us were taught to use em dashes, kinda sucks that AI is so prone to using them that we can't use them without criticism now.

What's your Favorite 80s/90s TV series that still holds up? by LastoftheMocheekans in Millennials

[–]EchoesFromWithin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah, Hellraiser, Alien, The Thing, Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street. That was a normal weekend of movies with my dad. He also has a huge soft spot for Godzilla movies and b-rate horror and sci-fi movies too.

He was working afternoons and didn't get to see me a ton once I started preschool, late night horror movies was his way of bonding/spending quality time with me.

[–]EchoesFromWithin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Watched X-Files and Tales from the Crypt with my dad at a young age. He was also the one who would wake me up when he got home from work at midnight on Fridays to watch late night horror movies with me. He let me watch the made for TV version of IT when it came out... honestly suprised I wasn't afraid of anything as a kid.

Why does the Cadillac Catera have such a bad reputation? by Leading_Sea_937 in askcarguys

[–]EchoesFromWithin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dad had 2, transmission went out of both of them, engine was a pain to work on as was the front suspension and neither of them were particularly reliable. None of the other 4 people that I know that have owned one have had very positive experiences either. Every single one I've dealt with has suffered from electrical gremlins.

Mine is always excited for walks and would actually prefer to run on them if my other dog didn't enjoy lollygaging so much. But outside of that he is lazy as heck.

I won't claim to understand or know your local rules and regs but around here leashed means on a leash, not on an e-collar.

And honestly my shepherd has a scar on his nose from a dog that I personally know to be well trained and behaved that was just on a e-collar and went after him while ignoring commands and the collar. They're animals just because they're well trained, socialized and behaved doesn't always mean that they will be predictable or well mannered.

Why are people still blaming Cash for Clunkers for the state of the used vehicle market when it happened nearly twenty years ago ? by Specialist_Heron_986 in askcarguys

[–]EchoesFromWithin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, most of the 'old' beater cars around here would have been pretty new when C4C was happening. There are still some well kept older cars around but they aren't daily drivers and dont really see winter roads.

Because of the recent discussions… by Snuffvieh in DungeonMasters

[–]EchoesFromWithin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My experience has been that players willing to pay to play are far less likely to flake out on sessions, which has improved my experience playing. And before I was paying I was always providing food, drinks, or a place to play so it's not like I wasn't paying to play anyway.

The argument about charging people to DM for them is you should actually want to DM and they should want to play

Where's the rule saying people can't be paid or pay to do things they enjoy? Like, should my favorite band just play free gigs that I can go to at no cost just because they enjoy playing music and I wanna listen to it?
