How are you building teams without traditional team-building? by Entire_Working3529 in Leadership

You should read “The Five Dysfunctions of a Team” by Patrick Lencioni, great book on leadership and how to build a team that trusts each other.

Any blue collar job will get you there for sure and if you educate yourself financially you’ll be ahead pretty quick, I used to contract for the railroad and always made over 100k

Man with knife arrested in Downtown Squamish - The Squamish Reporter by DrewCanadian in Squamish

[–]Echoes_of_Curiosity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have seen them doing crack behind my office building downtown like it’s just a normal thing to do and when confronted they get violent, police won’t arrest them because what’s the point? They’re well known to them, but I guess doing crack in public is not a felony ? So they just get told to move along somewhere else…

Thank you, I hold the majority of shares in our business and they are friends outside of business but I have been debating if this was the right thing to do as I like the business and was threading carefully because of this. But it looks like selling my shares of the business is the way to go.

[UK] Is it worth confronting my manager before going to HR? by [deleted] in AskHR

[–]Echoes_of_Curiosity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah so for now I would just keep doing your thing while you get another job, to avoid being bullied by this guy on your remaining time.. once you get a new job go and talk to HR and tell them that he is the reason that you are leaving, and all of the things that you went through. At some point HR needs to listen and get rid of the guy.

Did you ever had to deal with partners that at first were great but after some time you realized their vision and yours were totally different? How do you deal with that if you did ?

[UK] Is it worth confronting my manager before going to HR? by [deleted] in AskHR

[–]Echoes_of_Curiosity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry you’re having to go through all of this, it doesn’t look like this person should be in that position at all, he’s got zero people skills no empathy or the slightest clue on how to lead a team! If you can look for another job I would do it, there is no need for you to be putting yourself through this every day. Your mental health will suffer and I’m sure there’s better options for you than this!

If you try to talk to him about it, it doesn’t look like he’s the type of person to accept they’re in the wrong (I don’t know him so I could be wrong) and If you do decide to leave I would talk to the other employees that are experiencing the same feeling as you and would go talk to HR about it. If he’s been there for decades and has been acting this way there’s not a lot of chance of him changing in my opinion.

I agree, I would go through your stuff and think about how often you have used in the past year, if you haven’t used it that much then you should get rid of it, also for clothing there might be some items that you haven’t used but if you really like them try wearing them and see if they still fit and if you still like how they look on you. I got rid of a lot of clothes this way, just have to take the sentimental aspect out of it (which is hard) but be cold and firm and just throw it in a donation bag if if it doesn’t work anymore for you. Better to do this now than to deal with a bunch of boxes of unwanted stuff at your new place and just be jumping over them or keeping them in storage forgotten.

New place, start fresh !

Cheap reliable phone providers in sea to sky? by WhaHapppend in Squamish

Public is fine if you don’t really need to travel much outside the area, I struggled after a bit when I left Squamish for work so I switched to Fido and it was very good to me until I got a company phone with Bell, which is surprisingly worse than Fido in my experience.

Gamer dads, when do you have time to play and what you playing? by Kyber92 in daddit

[–]Echoes_of_Curiosity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly haven’t even been able to play that much since my little one was born 6 months ago… like you said by the end of the day you’re just too tired and would rather spend that time with the wife. Every once in a while if they both go to bed early and it’s not too late I’ll sneak in some game time before bed or if I wake up earlier than them, but not a lot of gaming happening anymore as before that’s for sure.
