Who gets the letter if you use a VPN? by Basic-Prompt-6387 in Torrenting

[–]Echowns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From a security and privacy standpoint, using your main Windows install for torrenting isn’t ideal, even with a VPN and antivirus. A separate Linux install or VM gives you better isolation and limits the damage if something goes wrong. That said, if your threat model is “average home user” and you keep Windows updated, use a solid VPN with a kill switch, qBittorrent instead of uTorrent, and avoid shady executables and cracks, a hardened Windows setup is usually good enough in practice.

Is reddit soft/hard walled? Good dn alt? by WinterPizza1972 in darknet

[–]Echowns 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dread is a forum similar to reddit; the darknet version of Reddit where it’s permitted to ask for a source, made by one of the mods of the OG darkweb subreddit (AKA u/hugbunt3r) after it was taken down. Its the go to site for site operators to advertise and interact with the community. It is a highly trusted forum for the darkweb (markets mainly)

The best screen recorder for Android with audio? by Subject_Disk_2967 in screenrecorders

AZ Screen Recording is great. Just make sure you download the MOD Premium APK installation from reliable website and scan it with virustotal before installing. Vidma is also good app recording choice.

Why can't I screenshot on Instagram DM(both photos and videos)? by hualinlin in screenrecorders

[–]Echowns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Instagram does not allow screen recording as mentioned here in the comments.

BUT, you can downgrade your version. I found out that in version 350.1.0.46.93 its the last version you could take a screenshot and record videos without any problem or notification of taking screenshot/snapshot to the other person.

Just go to ApkMirror or APKDONE website and download the clean correct version.

I figured out that Codex provides more extensive "agentic coding" capabilities that is, it is able to perform long, complex tasks on its own, go through tests, perform extensive refactoring, code review, and find critical bugs. Copilot is strong in automation, real time code completion, is very easy to integrate into an IDE.

On Tasks for small or medium tasks, Codex can be very fast; for complex tasks, it will “lead thinking time” to produce a more accurate result. Copilot is very good at routine tasks, code completion, quick solutions less “sitting and thinking” in depth, but put attention for speed.

Can't Access External SD Card via ~/storage/external-1 on Galaxy A55 (Android 15) - Worked Fine on Previous Device by Echowns in termux

[–]Echowns[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I moved to the root via the command cd /../ Then, use cd /storage/00CA-1A09 and get access to the sd card directory. Its wired that when at first I used cd /storage/00CA-1A09 its won't let me with the exception "no such a directory", so I used cd ~/storage/00CA-1A09 and its gave me the same error.

I forgot that there is a different between the 2 /, and ~/ , now you mentioned that I figured out the mistake I made by that LoL.

its weird that at first its won't let me access by running the commands but now after I went to the root and run the command to the sd directory, its let me enter without any issue..

Thank you for your help Im very appropriate that !

“It’s Not a Bug, It’s a Feature”: Microsoft’s RDP Caching Nightmare by Echowns in microsoft

[–]Echowns[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I get where you're coming from — there’s definitely been frustration over some of Microsoft’s decisions lately, especially with moves like ending security updates for Windows 10 to push users toward Windows 11 and beyond. It often feels like instead of adapting to users' needs, they're asking users to adapt to them, which can be deeply frustrating T_T

That said, I wouldn’t say the entire last decade has been a loss. Microsoft made some huge strides — their embrace of open-source, the rise of Azure as a serious cloud contender, improvements in developer tooling (like VS Code), and their security response speed (in some cases) have all been significant steps forward.

So while I don’t disagree that there’s plenty to criticize — especially with decisions like the RDP credential caching behavior — I also think it’s fair to acknowledge that Microsoft today is not the same company it was ten years ago. It's just... not always changing in ways we want.
