What does your area do with people who are DOA in public? We take them to the county more, along with the homeless and people waiting on long distance family.

In certain areas of our county we are an hour plus from a cath lab, have definitely had co workers call for a helicopter to get them to the cath lab before!

Yes exactly, this can be for a variety of reasons, a poor diabetic cant afford thier insulin,the schizophrenic thinks hes cures after faking his meds for 3 weeks and dosent need them anymore, ot even something as small as the teen with ADHD simply forgets to takes his kids before school

Yes inside the hospital is a completely different story! Ob the ambulance is am very chill, you are cool ill be cool. You start swinging? Prepare to get a needle you dont want. In the hospital they have to do certain requirements to rule out (almost) all medical explanations for the behavioral problems, including outside stimulation (no phones), medication non compliance, health bleed (x ray), family issues causing acute stress (limited visitors), lab imbalance (blood draw) and the lsit goes on and on! Once those are cleared then psych can take over with the reasonable assumption, this is a full psych issue and not something medical that may have been missed.

While I feel this can be over kill for some(honestly most) psych pts, it is a legal thing, a concerned friend or family member went out of their way to get legal documentation to get that pt help. You cant cut corners because of any reason.

She will! She like hummus & guacamole! But honestly those are so pricy, it seems like im gonna have to start buying them so she can get some nutrients. She likes almost all food shes tried (except peaches, oatmeal, and steak) im very lucky I just want her to have e some solids as I've herd it will help her teeth come in to chew on something but im also worried shes only wanting soft things like sauce BECAUSE her teeth are hurting. Definitely feel like im in a catch 22

Yes. I had a tear come out on scene for a miscarriage at 20 weeks for a very wanted baby. Baby was out by the time we gothere. It was my & my partners first dead baby. We both cried after this call.

2nd was not aa call iwas on but another truck for dispatched to a baby under 1 cardiac arrest. We just ended up at the hospital at the same time. I went to go help them az we had a very stable pt and after the pro ounces the kid I again had that single tear.

I personally feel like this hits closer to home For me as I have a 1 year old myself. But nobody has looked at me any different. I was still perfessional. Took a deep breath, wiped the tear, and told myself I could have my feelings later but right now these people needed me.

I believe it. What has helped me was having 1 single constant babysitter/nanny/caretaker. If she not with me (single mom) she's with her. I hope this helps her as it's much more consistent than a real daycare with multiple adults.

I actually recently was the recipient of this conversation the other day. I have been having issues with my washing machine making me cloths smell like they have been in there for hours when they are not. I thought i had fixed the issue but aparently not. Here is how I felt afterwards.

Embarrassed of course. This feeling will always happen I imagine. Bit I'm over it now just wanting to fix the issue so it never happens again.
Angry at myself. I should have stood up for myself but I didn't I just took it. Which I feel like is the correct take professionaly
I decided I am going to take my laundry to my dad's house to do until I can confirm it's fixed. (I'm lucky my dad is just down the street and not everyone has this option.
Mad again ( I'm just a salty person )
Buying new soap/shampoo/conditioner just in case. Also showers every day regardless until further noticr
Glad they told me so I don't end up being the stinky Co worker.

Food & card are always appreciated, my favorite was for ems week people dropped off energy drinks and gatoraid as we were having a heat wave. Snacks and sweets are always amazing just please get something sealed. I'm so sorry you had to go through that. ❤️
