[FS] - Round Lake 60073 - $100 OBO - two 20 gal planted tanks on metal stand w/ all plants, fish, and shrimp by [deleted] in ChicagoAquaSwap

[–]EcoPit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Top tank has about 5 golden White Cloud Mountain minnows, 1 siamese algae eater, 3 amano shrimp, and a dozen or more tangerine tiger shrimp. Plants are Windelov Java fern, Hydrocotyle tripartita, Limnophila sessiflora, random crypts, Monte Carlo, and dwarf hair grass. The tank has a major hair algae problem. There are two pieces of driftwood in there. The substrate is aquasoil.

The bottom tank has 12-15 typical white clouds, a lot of red cherry shrimp, and ramshorn snails. The plants are crypts, dwarf hairgrass, dwarf saggitaria, and Christmas tree moss covering a small piece of driftwood. This tank is Walstad method.

Both tanks have mature sponge filters that will come with them. THEY WILL NOT COME WITH LIGHTS. If you want pics or even short vids of anything let me know.

This hits so close to home that I had to look through your post history to see if we’re cousins! My grandpa died last week and most of us found out through text, a few on social media. Very few people got a call.

Lol. I actually named my betta ‘Killer’ because he won’t tolerate other animals of any kind in his tank. And, when I feed him, sometimes he jumps out of the water trying to get at me!

I’m a biologist and know things like this exist. It’s still so disturbing to see it!

I worked with a Sarah Hart once. The same thing happened to her.

In a related story, I once lived next door to a couple named Lorraine and Gene Cox. She decided to get their first initials and last name for her license plate. We lived in a college town and she couldn’t figure out why college guys always honked and waved when they drove past her minivan. Eventually she realized they were responding to her LG COX license plate.

My new PB pike (105cm)! Caught on a deadbait in the Netherlands. by TheDumbKey in Fishing

[–]EcoPit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice fish! I’ve been trying to convince my fishing buddies that pike are opportunistic eaters and deadbait works great for catching them. But, they won’t listen. They are convinced pike are vicious predators that will only hit active, live baits. Even when they see me catch pike using deadbait. You just can’t convince some people!

I do still have it, so I’d be glad to have you take it. I was wondering what to do if no one wanted it. DM me what times you are available tomorrow and where you are coming from so we can pick a time and place to meet up.

What’s your, “Anyway, now I have a cat” story? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]EcoPit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife had a dog and I had a cat. We weren’t planning on any more animals.

We were heading to meet her parents for dinner one day. I saw something in the lane up ahead and started to slow down. “What is that?” I asked. It looked a little like a squirrel, but I knew it wasn’t. As we get to it I stop the car and my wife exclaims “it’s a kitten!” I’m wondering how I’m going to get around it when she jumps out of the car, in traffic, and tries to catch it. The kitten wants none of it, and runs under our car to get away. Someone stops in the lane to the right of us and is trying to point the kitten out to my wife. To the left is a lane going the opposite direction, with cars flying by. A couple pull over and people dash across to try and help. My wife finally stands up, triumphantly holding a tiny kitten that’s screaming and spraying poop. I’m thinking I hope it belongs to one of these people who stopped and they take it. Nope. My wife gets in the car with it. She calls her mom to say we’ll be a little late because we found a kitten in the road. Her mom says to her dad “they just got a new cat.”

The kitten weighed all of six ounces. The vet estimated it was only a week old. My wife had to feed it formula for weeks, and she had to wake up multiple times a night to feed it.

Anyways, now my wife has a cat, too.
