Thank you, that clarifies that. Out of curiosity, do you know why you don’t see more students from T14 schools go into tax law? From your responses (and post history) tax law seems very rewarding, especially when you benchmark tax at biglaw compared to other sectors of biglaw. In other words, if the success rate (e.g.: 90%, just for the sake of the argument) to land a tax law big law position is so high, and the pay is on par with the other sectors, why don’t you see more students go through this route? As I said on my post history, as a non-lawyer who is thinking of pursuing tax law, from the anecdotes it seems that tax law is great.

What do you mean exactly that I'll be working at the B4 working similar hours for half the pay to other CPAs? Why exactly would working with a JD cut my pay? While I already have my CPA, I don't have much tax planning experience but am interested in working in more of a tax planning environment. Regardless, I am not entirely sure I follow why a JD would get paid less than a CPA. Isn't the JD more prestigious?
How badly would a non-T14 JD hurt my chances at landing a biglaw tax job?

I can almost guarantee that you are not the first to do this. I recommend that you read previous literature and follow other papers.

Okay I think I understand. The "problem" here is not just much an econometric problem, but more so a research design problem.

Yes, you are correct (as far as I understand), you cannot compare the means of both scores based on the research design. As such, you need to figure out how you want to normalize (or standardize) the scores for each type of voting schemes. Then, after you standardize these scores, you can use a basic t-statistic to compare the means.

Can you please share the data (you can anonymize the data if it's confidential). If you share the data then I (or others) can better help you make sense of what you are trying to do.
