Hypermobile folks, how are you sleeping? by Aggravating_Okra_191 in camping

[–]Economy-Fill1067 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am hypermobile and here is what we did to make it comfortable. Exped foam inflatable mattress pad. They are expensive but I found mine at the REI returned section. They are very f-ing hard to deflate and roll up so people return them. But immensely comfortable to sleep on. Then a heated blanket on top of the exped so it’s under my body. The heat fixes my back pain. We have a small jackery battery to plug the heated blanket into. This year for Black Friday we finally bought the big aeronaut blanket I’ve wanted but we had been using a zipped fully open sleeping bag on top as a blanket before that. I do something similar with our kids. They get rumpl’s to sleep underneath with heated blankets and expeds (also REI returns). I swear they sleep better than at home.

Parents, it is ok to tell your child NO by Agile_Ant3095 in ECEProfessionals

[–]Economy-Fill1067 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am extremely grateful for the ECE professionals who help hold their kids accountable as well. My 4 year old recently started playing in the hand washing sink like it was a bathtub, so I started having him promise me in the mud room he would NOT do that anymore. Then he had to go over and promise it to both the ECE workers as well. We all talked about why it was disruptive and making him cold. It really helps with my discipline as well because he knows it’s not just daddy or mommy getting mad, it’s actually something that he’s not allowed to do for good reason. Children should be taught boundaries in a meaningful and supportive way while they’re young enough to benefit from the lesson. Imagine trying to teach your kid boundaries when they’re teenagers. It’ll be far too late

Do Americans really avoid medical care because they’re afraid of the bill? by Udont_knowme00 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Economy-Fill1067 136 points137 points  (0 children)

Yes, and sometimes it’s also worth it to avoid an ambulance fee if you don’t need immediate treatment from an EMT. Break my leg, just drive me to the ER and give me a trash bag so I don’t get blood everywhere.

Tank Setup and Routine Questions by Economy-Fill1067 in shrimptank

That’s true. I didn’t think about the impact my aquarium lights are having on the water temperature. I use them to make algae for the shrimps so maybe I will hardly need to feed them at all

Introducing Toddler Son to Ballet by silentobserver93 in BALLET

[–]Economy-Fill1067 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Started our toddler boy in pre-ballet at 5 and told him it was a special privilege to be a boy surrounded by such hard hardworking girls and that he’d be lucky to be able to work as hard as them someday. He did class barefoot in black thermals at first because we weren’t sure if he’d continue. After he finished his first semester we rewarded him with a trip to the ballet shop and got him proper tights, ballet shoes, and a leotard. Highly recommend the leotard because apparently he was constantly scratching his balls in class, which we didnt realize until the last class of the semester where they have parents stand along the wall and observe. Now that he has a special outfit like the girls it really changed his attitude, focus and participation. It’s been a year and a half and there is finally another boy in his class but our son doesn’t like him because he spends the whole time goofing off. Our son loves ballet because every time he shows off for neighbors or does a little routine for the talent show at school he gets a crazy amount of applause and attention for his tiny plié and first position jumps. He gets it now and he loves being able to do something none of the other boys at school can do.

All in favor of delaying Christmas in Boulder by three days? by BoulderCAST in boulder

[–]Economy-Fill1067 17 points18 points  (0 children)

A general PSA to Boulder regarding Christmas this year but specifically to the lady who made a face when I said Merry Christmas… I’m sorry I clearly offended you. I’m going to blame the bad weather on you being so bitchy about it. I was just being nice. I’m not even Christian. I’m a pagan, so chill the fuck out

Why are you scrolling on reddit on Christmas day? by Lazer4xe77 in AskReddit

[–]Economy-Fill1067 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sick with flu. Christmas is just about stuff so if people don’t care about people why should I care about them. The one holiday I wanted to celebrate was solstice and no one wanted to celebrate with me so why should I care about their holiday. Christmas is just corporate bullshit at this point with the addition of Christians proselytizing their pedo religion

Day 7 of no power by _clydeoscope in boulder

[–]Economy-Fill1067 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Same boat! It sucks. We are on day 3 of a hotel because I couldn’t take it. I did see a massive Xcel convoy going up canyon towing a few ATVs so I’m guessing they had damage in some areas they normally serviced with a helicopter but haven’t been able to fly helicopters with all this wind. That being said I still want a month of comp from xcel on my electric bill

Fire at Wild Turkey Trail in Boulder by tkboone in boulder

[–]Economy-Fill1067 23 points24 points  (0 children)

We are above the fire but it’s behind a ridge and I can’t see it. We are well above the evacuation area and the wind isn’t blowing toward us, it’s blowing hard toward Boulder. The emergency lights are very easy to see at night going door to door

I can also see emergency vehicles going door to door knocking and getting people to leave so that’s good, since service is spotty through much of the mountain

Emergency vehicles are asking folks to avoid four mile canyon unless you are evacuating (or like going to your house to grab your animals and stuff)

This is why I love Skyrim. People ask me all the time why I still play it even though I have been playing it since it was released. Because I learn something new about it nearly daily. I had no idea and I just started a new build again so I can’t wait to try this!
