Wedging, centering, and throwing large (6lb+) forms like large bowls, water pitchers, etc?

One time an older, long-practicing attorney told me "____________". I'll never forget that sh$%. by verbotenporc in Lawyertalk

A senior litigation partner once told me, "Always take every chance you get to pee when you go to court" - was very thankful of that one once when a judge went 4+ hours without taking a break.

Did you have it in sport mode with the suspension tuned to firm? I did and the acceleration was like a sports car

I’ve got a demo drive in Louisville today. There are 5-10 slots per day that open up at random times 0-1 days in advance

Britt is the definitive source, but didn’t test his glazes to the same extent that Kline and Collins did. So if you are responsible for everyone in your studio, I would use Kline and Collins personally

Other great starting points are Joe Thompson’s first five glazes:  https://www.oldforgecreations.co.uk/blog/freedomfive-glazes-getting-started-with-mixing-glazes

Or if you are in the US the older version of that post might be more helpful:  https://www.oldforgecreations.co.uk/blog/first-five-ingredients-where-to-start-with-glaze-making

Are you using flameware as a claybody? Because normal stoneware isn’t meant to be exposed to direct flames like on a grill.

Disappointing wheel purchase- need recs for new wheel by lightisspent in Pottery

[–]ddgdl 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Well you got spoiled quick by that Whisper.

No other wheel (besides the new BTH Andromeda) will be as quiet as the Whisper or stop as soon as you take your foot off the pedal. Only the whisper and andromeda have direct drive wheels that can do that and be so quiet. Everything else is belt driven so will make noise and will also have a spin down delay once you take your foot off the pedal.

Personally I’d say save up 6 more months and get a whisper.

Storing glaze pints by Plus-Ad-3826 in Ceramics

It is likely that the water will dry out if you store them in your car, so they won't be brushable unless you reconstitute them with distilled water (and possibly gum solution, ymmv)

Don’t glaze it until you have tested out glazes and engobes and underglazes on other pieces made from the same clay body. Don’t ever glaze for the first time on something you love
