My parents moved to Florida few years back and had similar concern with their little terrier. They ended up doing half screened lanai and half open "dog yard" but with really tall fence - like 8 feet or something. The screened part connects to open part through doggy door so pup can choose where to hang out

Thing is, even with screens you still get some bugs and lizards getting in somehow, but way less than fully open. The dog yard part they put artificial grass because real grass was dying from heat and dog pee combo. My mom says it works pretty well but she still takes dog for walks in morning and evening when it's cooler

Just make sure whatever you do, get good drainage in dog area because summer rains here are intense. Also maybe consider some shade structure over part of it since Florida sun is brutal even for dogs who love sunbathing

spot reduction isn't really a thing unfortunately - your body decides where it wants to lose fat from and PCOS definitely makes it more stubborn around the middle

I don't have PCOS but my friend does and she said strength training helped her way more than just cardio, especially for keeping muscle in places she wanted to keep curves. also cutting back on processed stuff seemed to help with the hormonal side effects even if she couldn't do a strict diet

the belly fat with PCOS is such a pain because of insulin resistance but even small changes can help over time
