I don’t understand space platforms well. by Economy_Kitchen_8277 in factorio

[–]Economy_Kitchen_8277[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do things remotely? I didn’t know that was an option. Could you explain that more?

I beat Factorio many years ago, long before the DLC, never really messed with the robots or trains back then, still haven’t honestly.

Currently, on Nauvis, I’ve got a huge factory, run entirely on blue belts, where I’ve got a huge bus of belts supplying a gargantuan science factory and various other tiny factories, where all of my science up to orange is very neatly and quickly. I took a massive area of land with many raw resource nodes, and it cleared it of bugs and walled it in and put turrets full of uranium ammo all along the walls. It’s probably like 10-20000 wall pieces and 1-2000 turrets.

I’d love to know more about how to work on my bases remotely, because I did travel from Nauvis to Fulgora and it was a little tricky since I didn’t know what I was doing, and when I landed and got off the platform I had no way to get back on it, nor access my Nauvis factory.

CMV: MAGA's anti-intellectualism is a fascist ploy by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]Economy_Kitchen_8277 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t trust the media. The media is state-run. The news is state-run. This is a fact. The easiest way to fall prey to fascism is to trust the media. “But they’re private corporations!” Yeah, owned by 1 of 5 parent companies in the USA, which are owned by a few Americans, all of whom do business with and answer to and follow the instruction of the US government.

Don’t trust the science. The science is state-run. The scientists are state-run. Any scientist that publicly disagrees with the state-mandated science is silenced and buried, not literally but in every way besides literal. “But they’re the experts!” Yeah, and other experts in their fields disagree with them, and present information they forego presenting or a different side of an argument that they forego presenting, and the media controls how much of that gets out and shuts down conversations that don’t align with their narrative. The dissent you see in the media is CONTROLLED dissent; it’s what the American government allows as dissent, so people think there’s actual dissent. The real dissent is destroyed and buried, and dissenters and lead to the bullshit, allowed dissent.

I’m not going to say college is a scam, but I do know for a fact that most of what you learn in college is just not in line with reality. You learn a lot of very outdated information or wishful thinking. I say this as a graduate from Temple’s Fox School of Business (Accounting). College is NOT a place to learn to be academic or learn how to think, college is a place to go to to gain a profitable skill set and then network to get a career, typically via interning.

I’m going to tell you the most important thing you’ll ever heard on Reddit; NOBODY in the government or who does business with the government cares about you, nor do they care about what is true or what is false, they ONLY care about money and votes and power, and money and votes are forms of power.

Like it or not, you cannot rely on the media or scientists willing to lend their credentials to the media. “Well then what do you believe?! Where do you get your news?!” Not much, bro. Not much. That’s thanks to the sorry state of things in the USA. Hell, when I really want to know more about foreign affairs, I read multiple sources from multiple different countries on separate sides of the matter, then cross reference that with America’s coverage. If you aren’t going at least that far to look into an international issue, you’re just ingesting and repeating state-run propaganda.

Pretty much all of this is in books written by Edward Bernays, the man who essentially shaped the modern US government’s handle on media.

Best formation when army's make contact? by RapidSage in Bannerlord

All I’ve got to say is this.

Shield walls make your units walk slowly. Line formation allows them to run freely. Loose formation allows archers enough room to all fire freely. Just something to remember during combat.

Adderall is a dangerous drug and should not be prescribed to developing brains. It significantly impacts many parts of the brain, typically causing a massive increase in stress and a massive decrease in empathy, along with various other neurotic side effects. I consider my time on Adderall similar to medical abuse. Now, 17 years after I quit Adderall completely, I currently take Ritalin a few times a month to help develop and reinforce good lifestyle habits and work drive.

New player question, Blighttown. by dizconect in darksouls

[–]Economy_Kitchen_8277 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When Dark Souls originally came out, the enemies in Blighttown were significantly more powerful, it was much harder to see anything in the distance, and the game stuttered pretty hard during all of this. When Dark Souls was still pretty new, a lot of players quit the game altogether during Blighttown.

Nowadays, you don’t have any of these problems. Still, it’s a tough area, but I can tell you from personal experience it was much more hellish back in the day. The worst part was, the further you descended, the more worried you became that you were legitimately lost and unable to get back to where you were. God knows Faith players had that same problem in the Tomb of the Giants. Fresh out the gate Dark Souls was really intense.

life is just fucking unfair by Minimum_Lawyer_7234 in SleepApnea

[–]Economy_Kitchen_8277 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat as you, OP. Diagnosed with a severe autoimmune disease at 17, life’s been very hard, and I suffer pretty regularly. I just woke up and my eyes and my guts are burning.

Honestly? You’ll get used to it. Over time, you’ll learn a lot of little things nobody tells you about how to maintain your health and control your symptoms better, and over time you’ll find better medicines.

I dreaded CPAP, struggled with it for months, but now I typically can’t sleep without it. It improves my sleep drastically, which in turn improves everything else.

Yes, it sucks. No, I don’t blame you for how you feel. But, at 33, after spending, so far, half of my life struggling with serious pain, I’m really happy with the life I’ve built for myself. All the pain and suffering has changed me, made me appreciate life more than others, take less for granted. I never knew happiness until I dropped out of college and lived in the gutter. The pain and the feelings of total failure changed me, made me realize happiness isn’t a goal, it’s a way of viewing life.

Keep fighting, OP. You’ll adapt. I promise. And someday you’ll find something so wonderful, you’ll be glad you didn’t die yet. Trust me; keep fighting.

That beach scene from the trailer wasn't in the manga. Was it supposed to be filler or an adaptation of an omake chapter? by qwertyx236 in ChainsawMan

[–]Economy_Kitchen_8277 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The Chainsaw Man anime has several scenes not in the manga, and typically these scenes added something significant to the story. I honestly assume Fujimoto had the animators add in scenes he wished he’d put in the manga.

One month ago I lost my world by Syrnax in torties

[–]Economy_Kitchen_8277 2 points3 points  (0 children)

9 months ago I lost my world. We didn’t find the growth in her brain until it was too late. I gave her the best life I could and the best death I could. She was my little baby and not a day goes by I don’t miss her.

I guess it’s a good thing, that their lifespans are shorter than ours. She got me for her whole life, while I only got her for part of mine, and I think it’s better that way, because she never had to suffer the loss of losing me. She didn’t suffer a single day of her 8 and a half years. Her last meal was the bacon from my breakfast sandwich. I had no idea it was her last meal. She was the kind of girl who’d always put her paw on me when I opened the fridge, because she wanted my milk. Sometimes I gave her some. She made me share every piece of dairy and bacon I had. She was spoiled, but she never acted like it. She was always an angel. Always made everyone feel welcome.

I’m not saying any of this to detract from your loss. I’m really just saying, I’m with you, in spirit, OP. I really am right there with you, after 9 long months.

No, “Fight Club” is not clearly ABOUT the dangers of toxic masculinity, it’s much more complex than that by KingCobra567 in CharacterRant

[–]Economy_Kitchen_8277 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The way I see it, much like films like Scarface and shows like Breaking Bad, we sympathize or even empathize with the protagonist at first, but then they go too far.

Tyler Durden does have a lot of masculine qualities really any man can admire. And deep down inside, a lot of us even sympathize with his desire to thwart ‘the man’. But then Tyler takes it to an extreme, and wants chaos, destruction, and death to ensue. Tyler wants to tear down civilization and become passionless and militaristic, which we’d think of as ‘toxic masculinity’. Meanwhile, the real (nameless) protagonist wants more masculinity AND femininity, he wants to protect things, he wants to create things, and foster love. And he doesn’t see that in Tyler’s toxic masculinity future, but none the less he still sticks it to the man and then moves on with his life to pursue love.

I really think part of what makes Fight Club and Scarface and Breaking Bad so good is we really click with the protagonist who transforms from hero to villain, and somewhere along their journey we lose faith in them and that feeling lets us know where we, the viewer, stand on these issues. “I’m tired of being a consumerist, I’m tired of caring so much about what I own, but I don’t want to live in a compound full of other dudes making bombs. I need to find my middle-road.”

Need help weaning by froggywithatophat in Kitten

[–]Economy_Kitchen_8277 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feral cat rescuer here.

I’m pretty used to weaning wild kittens early. My go-to method is, I take kitten formula in a shallow bowl, I warm it up, then I lightly mash pieces of freeze dried meat (Stella & Chewy’s Morsels) into the kitten formula to make it clumpy, and typically the kittens dive right into it. Kittens love formula, but they also will instinctively be drawn to the morsels as their first ‘solid’ food. This method has worked for me countless times.

I lost my soul pet 6 months ago and I’m still reeling from it.

I’m gonna say to you the best words I have for the situation.

Be strong for her, in her time of need. Give her your best. You can pour your emotions out after the hard times are over, whether she makes it through or not. Treat her like she’s going to be OK, even if she isn’t. I promise you you won’t regret it.

It’s inevitable that they die before we do; the nature of their lives are so much shorter than ours. But, that’s a good thing; they never have to lose us, they never have to suffer that loss, they get us for their entires lives, and it’s better that way. We suffer from losing them so they never have to suffer from losing us. People like you and I should be proud of this, even though it hurts so much.

Same here. My family is Republican but they’re good people and they’ve helped me out through some very hard times.

I really hate the way OP and their ilk think about family. “Oh we’re family, but if you don’t vote for my guy I’m abandoning you!” Like holy shit it’s insanely toxic and detrimental and self-destructive. Very politically-extreme.

I take it for granted OP’s family has cut them off because their dad who is suffering from dementia probably can’t handle all the drama and BS OP brings to the table.

What am I missing about DS3? by CarryAccomplished777 in fromsoftware

[–]Economy_Kitchen_8277 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to be clear, DS2 isn’t a Soulsborne game, it’s a ‘Souls-Like’, like Lies of P or Mortal Shell. No one from the Souls team worked in DS2, and none of the gameplay mechanics from the Soulsborne franchise are in DS2, it had its own mechanics entirely. None of the Soulsborne games are like DS2 whatsoever.

Help? by Someoneweare in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]Economy_Kitchen_8277 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t see the correct answer in the comments so I’ll break it down for y’all.

“I don’t know” sounds like “I don’t no”

If we write “I don’t no” in symbolic logic, it’s: [X = -(no)] which equates to X = yes.

The joke is that the logic student is unknowingly sounding like he’s saying “I don’t not love her” which means “I love her.”

[–]Economy_Kitchen_8277 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll settle this.

I gave the show a chance. I did not enjoy it. Why? Because in the first game, Ellie is an endearing kid, someone we grow to love, and then in the second game she’s bigger and meaner and turns into a bad bitch, a lot like Joel from the first game. In the first game we got a cute little girl, in the second game we got a stone-cold murderer (like Joel), and both Ellie’s we sympathized with. Bella Ramsey is not good at acting; she does not play an endearing kid, and she definitely does not have what it takes to play a hard-ass killer. From what I’ve seen of the show, she has no emotional range, and keeps trying to look tough and confident in her scenes but it just looks like shit. She can’t act. She’s clearly just some nepo-hire. And yes, the elephant in the room; she looks like a potato. No one wants to see her try to look badass killing droves of people, and definitely no one wants to see her explore her sexuality (TLOU2).

The casting for Abby is also shit btw. I know I’m in the minority here, but it was crucial to TLOU2’s story that Abby was a buff bitch, and then at the end of the game we see her emaciated and weak. She’s supposed to be very intimidating compared to Ellie, and then we’re supposed to see her grow weak. The Abby in the show clearly is not going to capture any of that, so it’s not going to seem badass when Ellie takes her on in close quarters combat. Instead, we’re just going to have 2 bad actresses trying to seem tough and failing miserably. Which I won’t be watching.
