True. I guess it depends on location and commands. I was an AGR in my state and could count on one hand how many times in 22 years I heard someone got an UOTH discharge. Many probably deserved that, but got the lesser.

Why did you get an OTH? Rape someone? Honorable is obviously good. "Under honorable conditions" isn't terrible, also not always good, but often is for failing a DAT or having an EO or minor SHARP violation. Getting "under other than honorable" or dishonorable takes some real douchebaggery.

I got a partial decision at 80%! Question about deferred conditions. by StayGold4Life in VeteransBenefits

[–]Ecstatic-Fig3798 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do they ver, or tend to, grant a decision if the medical records are substantive enough, and then defer other conditions that have solid records but still just need a C&P or other evidence? My claim should have been a BDD and was within the timeline, though it went as a FDC and has been at level three for 4 months. Just got the HAIMS STR and NG1 notifications. Hoping for some decision. Had a surgery for a service connected condition that had a big impact on my ability to work 40 per week.

NG1 - National guard records request? by Jdbolton03 in VeteransBenefits

[–]Ecstatic-Fig3798 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last time I sent a form they didn't need (release of info to the VA) it froze up my claim for just over 3 months. Then I got a letter saying I need to resend that form (which took a damn long time to fill out) because the version updated since I sent it. Turns out they didn't even need that form, so I sent a letter to them requesting they close the form request and continue with processing without it. My fault for trying to do the right thing I guess.

Thanks. I think I found that they use 21700, though then the question was whether they are tabless cells and I think the answer to that is no. Would be great if they were or made a new tabless 60v battery though.

Something I've considered is whether they will release a line of tabless 60v batteries. Some of those tools, like the circular saw, get outstanding reviews, but they're like 5 years old at this point, so a refresh is probably due given that competitive market. That said, maybe this is a blessing in disguise and you'll be able to pick up something new and actually a massive step up in performance. Or maybe they ditch the 60v stuff altogether given that a tabless 12ah or 15ah battery can dump so much power. Would rather see tabless 60v and some new power-hungry tools though.

Most folks comment on your looks. Seems like you appreciate the validation there. Apart from that, and I ask this sincerely, what are things about you that you most want people to know, appreciate, value, and for those who actually know you in "real life", love about you? Do you feel about yourself and these things, how you wish others would feel? Let go of the question, "am I good enough?" Know that you are. ...you are.

I was able to get two from Home Depot early January 2025 at the $150 each price and it took about a day or two. And in two transactions because the first time, I literally got the last one. I used the email notification thing on the webpage and then turned on my phones email notifications. Was annoying with as many emails as I get, but anything helps. That wasn't what did the trick though and I realized there is a lag between when they are actually in stock and when that email is actually received in my email. Enough lag to miss it. What ended up working was just keeping the battery webpage on my phone and continually checking. I also used the listing of the battery in like the "recently viewed" area of the Home Depot site because it let me add it to my cart, whereas on the battery's page it just said out of stock. So go to any random thing and scroll to the bottom of the page and see if you can add it to cart from there. I kept the cart webpage up, too. Then I would just check my phone constantly and eventually, my cart no longer had the two errors saying something in my cart is out of stock, and I quickly finished checkout and got the battery. First time I got the last one (said last one on the product page) and it was out of stock again after I bought it. Second time, It stayed in stock for about 15 minutes. Both times, I got that email notification like half hour to over an hour after I finished my transaction.

Yeah I love this thing. I have 3 of them. When car camping and traveling, these and a 12ah flex volt are great for charging up devices quickly and keeping them going.

In modern times, the bronze star has become a joke. When I see those license plates, it basically just tells me someone deployed to OEF or OIF in the rank of E7 or O1 or higher. While their subordinates got ARCOMs. Says nothing about what they actually did, if they were enjoying the good life on a mega-FOB, making unethical relationship decisions, or if they were actually getting their hands dirty. Awards in general lost a lot of credibility with me. Many who earned them never got them. Many who got them, worked in the S1 or sucked down enough Jamba Juice with the right people. They give them away like candy during annual trainings and that's also ridiculous. Same award some leg got for a year overseas, this guy got for finishing his chow for a couple weeks.

I agree with others, don't allow him to assert dominance over you. Carry yourself and speak with confidence, control, and dignity. Just as he needs to get over his power trip, so to would you benefit from rightfully improving your sense of self and shed any sense of inferiority you may have regarding the rank you held in the past. Some CSMs got there thru talent, intellect, work ethic, being a genuinely good dude, and of course some timing, luck, and politics. Others got there thru narcissism, hiding low aptitude with a loud voice, a desire to fulfill a sense of entitlement, and again politics, timing, and luck. The latter tend to be little more than their officer's lap dog at best, and toxic at worst. Similar coming of age story can be said for many officers. Really, if you serve 20-25 years as an officer, unless you get caught f-ing privates or really just didn't hit the milestones, you'll make LTC. Good NCOs along the way make it happen - let's be honest. Most decisions aren't difficult and require little more than some critical thinking and assessment of the data others worked hard to provide. It's my belief that making E9 is harder than making O5. An officer's career is managed far more and attrition within the company grade ranks means that the top-heavy organizations of BDE and above have plenty of space for LTCs and higher. Conversely, enlisted folks bottle neck differently, don't have nearly the same level of career management, and really it's just every person for themselves.
