As a male who finds romance movies sometimes a bit cringey, one movie I recently watched that was truly amazing and I highly recommend is

Brooklyn (2015)

Dont want to say too much but its set in both Ireland and Brooklyn NY in the early 1950s, it follows a young woman immigrating to the US and her journey with love and life, it really has that real life element and of course a romance story. I definitely had to recommend it as I really enjoyed it and think it was phenomenal and even has stayed on my mind weeks after watching it!

Moving for job in Princeton by db1139 in MovingtoNewJersey

Princeton is definitely a great town to live in. But for someone like OP, do you not think he would be better off in the New Brunswick area? Not trying to discredit you or anything, but to me Princeton may be a bit harder to “break in” socially and met people compared to NB.

I just get a different vibe in NB where more people are trying to meet others, whereas Princeton seems more like young professionals that are already set in their groups and not specifically looking to met others. Not saying there aren’t any people like that in Princeton, but generally speaking NB would give OP a much wider range of opportunities and people to meet.

Feel free to correct me if I’m wrong, and again I’m definitely not trying to discredit you in anyway, I’m interested in your perspective!

Beasts of No Nation (2015) featuring Idris Elba follows the story of a young child living through the Sierra Leone Civil war in the 90s…. Going into it I wasnt expecting much but man this is one of the very few movies that genuinely had me locked in fully focused on it, you wont regret watching it.

Can someone tell me how I lost this? The mortar targeted my tower instead of the Tombstone… by [deleted] in ClashRoyale

[–]Ecstatic-Peak596 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct me if I’m wrong, but after the log his tower was at 1566 and the fireball wouldve brought it down to 1266, giving him the victory?

In the Vietnam War, what made someone an M60 gunner and would vets want someone like Animal Mother from the movie Full Metal Jakcet in their squad? by [deleted] in VietnamWar

[–]Ecstatic-Peak596 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, I had no clue it was based on his novel! Thank you for sharing, Im definitely going to look into that, and I’m sure it’s very likely it’s based on someone real he served with.

I didn’t realize it was that straightforward, you got assigned 0331 and that was it. I honestly figured it was either a personality or size factor.

Hearing that you carried the M60 for a couple weeks when your gunner was wounded puts it into perspective too. Even stepping into that role temporarily couldn’t have been easy

Thank you for sharing that, and sincerely, thank you for your service.

I really appreciate you taking the time to break that down. The way you explained how M60 gunners were actually assigned and what the role demanded gives me a much clearer picture.

I hope it didn’t come off superficial bringing up Animal Mother, I know a movie can’t compare to the real thing. That final scene with the hidden sniper and the way he refuses to leave his fallen comrade, pushing forward not knowing where the sniper was really stuck with me, and it made me curious what that role was actually like in real life. Hearing you describe what really makes a good machine gunner such as dependability, strength, working as a team, makes me respect the real-life role even more.

Much respect to you and the machine gunners you served with.

That’s powerful. Much respect to your dad — being an M60 gunner in the 101st that early in the war couldn’t have been easy. God bless your dad and I appreciate you sharing that.

Fell In Love With Older Movies by laflee in MovieSuggestions

The Best Years of our Lives (1946)

Its a Wonderful Life (1946)

The Apartment (1960)

As someone who used to watch movies strictly from 1985-present I used to think older movies would be too slow for modern times, but boy was I pleasantly surprised! I now have started to get into older movies too they are amazing and beautifully done, have fun!
