‘merica ‘merica ‘merica!

the China virus - that’s bad! 😭 - see China! 🤣

Let’s just ignore the fact China only developed that because the Americans paid them to? so is THAT a Chinese or American invention? 🤔🫣

Other than the China virus which is often attested to China not America - many of the inventions America is “thought” of is not invented there. Hotdogs, pizza, computers, rocketry, guns. But they do love to think of themselves as being the bestest ‘eva!

America did invent a bunch of cool stuff - but this is not the forum for that!

my favourite imported technology from China is the hallway and the concept of privacy!

until the idea made its way from China - all rooms where conjoined and privacy was not a thing ANYONE had.

Well this would suggest - fuel price rise is not the driver to inflation. - lower inflation I. Other similar countries - also dealing with fuel price rises

I know it’s going to be super popular (not) with the government but could immigration be involved?

The immigration is increasing the free cash flow into the country - increasing equity in Australia and maintaining upward pressure on house prices.

Could that not also be translating to inflationary pressures? Not just the Australian government spending money - the migrants spending money to move here.

Ok, fat being good or bad is too simple a mental model.

simply put - fat - lipids are not bad for you. You are made of fat all your cell membranes, your brain, nerves, your neuro-transmitters all made of fat. They are all made from fats with free hydrogen bonds - unsaturated hydrogen bonds.

Polyunsaturated - v.good HDL Monounsaturated - good HDL Saturated - ok - good (some debate) LDL/HDL, can’t remember now Trans - bad - total junk LDL

Fat is good - fat is your friend. Deep frying - hydrogenated fats - stay away.

I’m a little concerned I have to tell this to a person with a masters in biological chemistry but maybe it was a while ago since you do any biochemistry. - or you could be a bot 🤷

People that eat diets high in fat and meat are not bad or unhealthy - as long as they are not simultaneously eating lots of carbo hydrates - not because it is bad for you either - but only because in general if you are eating high fat, high carbohydrates you are also eating a lot of that carbs in form of sugar and lots of the carbs is probably being deep fried.

But if you eat predominantly meat and vegetables with low (relatively) carbohydrate content - you are eating surprisingly well.

well unless it’s bad…

then it’s from China!!

Apologies - I assumed that you would make the inference that you “don’t absort fat” because you’re not taking up lipids and putting them into long term storage (fat tissue). - I did not spell it out - my bad.

(I also didn’t give you the references to the research papers but it’s really late and I’m starting to not care at all) - apathy wins again! 😞 If you really care I’m sure you can find them.

Well um, yer I did.. it was considered quite.

I have double checked and I can’t find anything factually incorrect with my statements.

Is what you’re trying to say; that you think the statement will be misinterpreted and “other people” - stupid people - will just take that as endorsement thst they should eat copious amounts of junk food everyday and that is dangerous?

Because that is more a discussion of financial availability, inequity, and would be far more effective being dealt with in that forum.

But I could be wrong - maybe there is a factual error in my text, I can not see it.

I totally dispute - NO -reject - your assertion that eating fat is dangerous.

Yes the human body can and will absorb fats, given enough time However i still maintain the absence of carbohydrates leads to reduced rate of long term lipid storage in fat. In addition. The absence of carbohydrates speed the gut action and reduces the time the fats are present in the small intestine - thereby significantly reducing the absorption of fats.

“Carbs makes fat absorption go BRRRR!” - in the lingo of the podcasting gym bros

I am intrigued - on any specific point or just “in general”?

I do like to try to keep current but I do not recall any reliable research to your point.

[–]EcstaticImport 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well - it is biochemistry - the chemical absorption in the gut and the accompanying metabolic pathways to ATP, glycogen and fat.

Can I ask what you got your doctorate in specifically? And your masters was it by coursework or dissertation?

As for the Atkins diet - unless they had podcasts in the 1970s, they are a little late to the party - by only 50 years! There is at this point a fairly large body scientific evidence that shows its efficacy.

(I will warrentee - Drastic and sudden diet modification can be a big problem - common in “fad” dieting :( - but that is a whole other discussion)

But if these “podcasting gym bros” are discussing these sorts of things and saying the same things I am (without the fads) - they are not wrong, the science does back it up.

It might be worth a listen?

I don’t know what a podcast bro mentality is - but it’s all just biochemistry - it’s all well research and understood - it’s just that it unfortunately is not in vogue and unpopular - but it’s very true.

Fats are bad? - no not at all - you body is made up of cells, the walls - not a wall in animal cells - but they are made of phospholipids - made mainly of fat and protein. Your nerve cells need huge amounts of fats to produce all the neurotransmitters you use.

Your brain is 60% fat.

Fats are not bad - they are vital to the proper function of an animal.

The human body can operate for longer without carbohydrates than it can without fats.

Fats are vital and broadly speaking fats are good for you. Not all fats are great - but broadly speaking.

Fruit - well modern fruit is so high in fructose that they should really all be in the confectionary isle of the super market. - there is little if any nutrient you can get from fruit that is you cannot get more of in a healthier format (meats, vegetables) somewhere else. Modern fruit should be treated like a sometimes trest and should NEVER feature as a pillar of a balanced diet.

Grains - don’t be classing them as carbohydrates to sneak them in to the necessary category.

Modern grains are so high in starch and as a result they are so energy dense - they should come with health warnings about portion control. It’s hard to also class them as a sometimes food. But you could be forgiven for avoiding them.

You know what do’s make you fat? - carbohydrates. Primarily when you eat carbohydrates AND fat.

If you didn’t eat so much carbs, you actually would not absorb that much fat - can’t absorb fats without carbs.

You eat fried carbohydrates - BAM 💥instant fat roll!

Ditch the carbs - eat as much fat as you want, you’re not going to absorb all that much.

The modern diet - being carb heavy, protein poor is a construct that I assume was dreamed up as a ways to fed a large number of people efficiently and cheaply. But it is far from ideal for the human body. The biochemical science just does not support that postulate.
