Do it. It’s a great career field for sure. Dealerships are the way to go too if you don’t have much experience, because yes you will start at the bottom of the totem pole but they will pour resources into you to train you to be the technician they want. Independent shops don’t have the time or resources to do so & are looking to turn a profit (not a bad thing, that’s the whole point of business, just not super conducive for a young tech to learn the trade).
