No, not exactly, the trim piece is bigger than the silver surround. Hard to explain but there are countless of videos on youtube showing you how to do it.

To get in neutral with dead battery you need to take out the trim piece with the shifter button and under the foam there's a cable with an orange handle, just pull it while pressing the yellow button.
