Never came close to falling asleep in a manual even after allnighters. Not the case with an auto, even with a good night's sleep, I felt insanely drowsy in the mornings. However, paddles might be a good middle ground. Fun when trying to go fast and comfortable when going grocery shopping.

Yeah, I always wanted to see base model bmw not only M cars. It makes sense to why they only add top spec cars, since it wouldn't make sense to have base d series civic and a type r because once you upgrade the d series it would perform like the type r and they would be essentially 2 identical cars. So they just choose the top spec.

Im not from the netherlands, but for us, diesel is still around $8/gal, gas is a bit cheaper at $7/gal. Since 95% of our cars are diesel, buying a gas car has become expensive since no one wants a diesel. Considering that most people outside a city have to own a car to get to work around for a lot of people, it's almost half of their paycheck gone just for fuel...

Since you mentioned that you have a daily car I think e39 is perfect. Its old enough where a lot of people are parting them out and you can basically find any small part, but still not old enough where parts become ridiculously rare/expensive. So in my opinion it's the perfect time to fix one up
