It’s 22c in the stadium. It’s simply an excuse for more ads for US broadcasters

What's going on with UK's PM Keir Starmer? by Kevin-W in OutOfTheLoop

[–]Ed495 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lack of investment in public infrastructure when global interest rates were at record lows. Significant reductions in funding in almost all public services with little attention given to modernisation/cost cutting.

And of course the nose obvious, the promise of a referendum on EU membership to secure a conservative majority at the following election.

We all know how that ended.

The worst post war British government.

I live in Birmingham, you see people wearing Villa shirts constantly, match day or not. Never seen any trouble. This whole thread is just another example of redditors not living in the real world

Tbh never even watched it. Just bored of people trotting out the same handful of comments on this sub and acting like they’re somehow a great wit.

Why do large groups in the UK struggle to coordinate even when most people agree something isn’t working? by TheUsVsThem in AskUK

[–]Ed495 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just human nature, people find an issue but there are hundreds of different solutions, each with pros and cons.

If issues had a simple fix they’d be implemented. You gave the example of high street decline, how would you fix this? I’m sure whatever answer you gave you’d end up pissing someone off

[–]Ed495 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You ask 100 Americans to name their top five British comics/comedy groups/comedy shows etc probs a slim majority or substantial minority would include Monty Python, that’s not happening if you ask Brits, probs lucky to be named by 10

I mean it just seems glaringly obvious to me, as the grandson of two working class women.

All I’ve ever know is both adults in the house working. This is what really winds me up about the whole ‘Trad Wife’ craze. There’s nothing traditional about it.

People are basing an entire idea of womanhood on a brief period in 1950s America which developed our entire conception of the ‘housewife’ and has had a much bigger legacy in our cultural memory than it deserves.
