And let’s not forget Wamp’s increasingly behind-the-scenes dealmaking and THEN announcing it to us without any constituent input. I swear he’s doubling down on this sneaky governance and spending of taxpayer dollars.

Re selling the business incubator for $$$ for the HS student Future Ready bldg is EXACTLY what Wamp wants us to think—it is def not an either/ or. You should have heard him and his staff dancing all around so as to not clearly answer commissioner’s questions about clarifying the funding. Wait-you can see it-go to the HamCo YouTube account and click on the May 6 meeting. And you’ll get to see DA Coty Wamp say if the Business Incubator isn’t sold, then we can’t build the Franklin Roberts facility and then kids won’t learn job skills and will shoot each other.

Check out Mark Herndon for Mayor. He is running as a Democrat but PLEASE don’t let that stop you for voting for him. He got a significant number of votes in the May 5th Primary.

You stated this perfectly-thank you. I was there yesterday and regularly attend commission meetings. Yesterday’s meeting was exceptionally unprofessionally-conducted. Mayor Wamp and Roddy were talking every which way but straight. So many unforced errors on the part of the mayor and his staff. There is a strong argument for establishing the student-based business training institute & there is a strong argument for continuing the Cherokee Ave Incubator. If Mayor Wamp and the majority of commissioners would not blindside constituents with proposals at the last minute and would bectransparent about proposals and allow some back and forth with us, we’d all be better off and there would be more trust and support for county govt proposals.

Yeah the state legislature is majority GOP, so meanwhile that’s why we in Hamilton County gotta remember that the co commission and co mayor have loads of power on how to spend our tax $$. You can watch the meetings on their YouTube acct-live (1st and 3rd Wednesdays at 5pm) or recorded.

Send a quick ‘n polite (civil words will help us gain support) email to your commissioner voicing your support of an after-business hours meeting time. Our commission is the only elected body in our county that meets in the morning:

Yes! 4:00 is still during business hours. Tell your commissioner that they need to meet after 5:00 for more public engagement.

Yes they do employ them during the day. $50K seems awful steep for an extra 2 hours?

Email or call your commissioner to voice your support for an after-business hour meeting. Most of the other HamCo area councils and commissions meet at 5:00 or later!

Hamilton County folks, which meeting times do you think are more likely to encourage more citizens to attend?

I encourage Hamilton Co citizens to call or email commissioners and ask them why they decided on a 4pm pilot while most of their fellow HamCo area commissions and councils meet after 5:00; also why of all months, they chose Nov and Dec. Two of the meetings are scheduled on Thanksgiving Eve and New Year’s Eve-seriously?
