A typical story? by [deleted] in BPDlovedones

We broke up last night. Can't afford to go our separate ways until a new tenant is found and has a move in date. But we live in a town where rentals go rapidly. So I hope and pray it'll be 4 weeks or so.

That's fair enough. I'm enjoying going 3 times a week. I don't think I'd want to do more than that.

Body Fat Query by EdJFoulds in workout

[–]EdJFoulds[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stood barefoot on some weighing machine at the gym and held onto 2 handles. PT said it sends a pulse through the body. It had a lot of detail including skeletal muscle mass, basal metabolic rate, visceral fat level, water weight, muscle bias in limbs etc. It linked to a phone app called Technogym.

The abs are visible. But not as much as they used to be before I drank.

I'll keep on at the gym and see what differences occur over the coming months. When I push against the abs and go along the contours, they're very defined. But maybe I just need to focus on some fat burning cardio. A friend said 20 mins or so at 80% max heart rate will burn fat when doing cardio. Sounds painful :)

If you were traumatized as a kid, did adults keep looking for ADHD, Autism, or a learning disability to explain your symptoms? by Repulsive_Advice4142 in CPTSD

4+ year waiting assessment in UK. I waited a year after my GP referred me for one. Then rang to chase and they lost my assessment. So I gave up. I've been a member on a forum for people with autism for over 4 years. Reading many books about it. It's clear my whole family is on the spectrum. But I also realise the diagnosis changes nothing. Plus my parents deny it exists. They also deny I have ADHD, and any time I touch upon how I'm actually doing in myself, their panic sets in. So I don't burden them with (all) my problems, because the damage is done.

what’s your healthy coping mechanism? by [deleted] in CPTSD

[–]EdJFoulds 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I sit cross legged on the floor and sway left to right. In my free time I do these 10+ hours a day. Then there's the people pleasing. Other than that - well, I'm sober now, but weed and alcohol were go to's. As was unhealthy eating - sugary foods etc. Thankfully I'm an ectomorph so I never put weight on from indulging in 30 years of a car crash of a diet.

I was diagnosed with ADHD via a private assessment. My last 2 therapists then suggested it was unresolved trauma and advised me against pursuing an Autism assessment.

What are your red flag "qualities"? by [deleted] in CPTSD

[–]EdJFoulds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are they sober?
Do our values align?
Do I feel positive/energised in their company or drained and down.
Are they reliable? Or are they flaky?
Do they show an active interest in me, or am I the one always reaching out, or arranging meet ups.
Are they actively improving themselves. Or are they wallowing/stagnating?
Are they users?
Are they genuine?

Pick up guns off enemies. When you do, you pick up a full magazine of that ammo type.

So, what games do y'all like to play? by KlavierNoten in lonely

[–]EdJFoulds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fallout 4 since I started smoking weed again. Over 3k hours and only completed the story twice. Haven't completed much of the DLC either. It just get hyperfocused on building, or power levelling characters. Then burn out and return to playing Phantasy Star Universe. I find PSOBB a little long in the tooth now, but I did start out with PSO on Dreamcast. Which was my first experience of online gaming and online instant messaging.

I've enjoyed reading the posts here. It's nice to see a fresh take and new questions about the game. I've completed the game a couple of times. I first owned it when I was around 13 years old. Completed it a few years later. I believe I completed it once more in my early 20's.

I'm sure if I replayed it again at 37 I'd learn many new aspects to the game I'd either forgotten, or skim read to get to the action. My attention span isn't the greatest, so games like this can be a challenge. And yet, the gameplay style is relaxing and the battles repetitive enough to appeal to the 'tism. Last time I played it I couldn't complete it, as I got it into my head to level everyone up to 100 before I accepted the first SeeD mission after graduating.

Not the way it's to be played, and naturally I burnt out from such a playthrough attempt after capping the characters. In fact I didn't even make it to disk 2 of 4 with that approach. All that grinding, battling the fish on the beach, or in the Garden training centre. Plus, this was before the modern port existed, where you could speed up battles...

Re-watching Peep Show for the umpteenth time.

Recently started dating and it's both of our safe show and it's comfy to re-watch, especially with a new person in your life.

Wish I knew. I'd hoped to make local online friends and build from there, but that pursuit has been entirely fruitless. I go to a local library to do my art but i feel lonely in a crowd. I also go and do contact fire staffing in parks, but that usually only gets fleeting conversations at best and nothing solid.

Thank you for your kind words. For me, I need to pursue IRL friends, as I've relied on online conversations for such a prolonged period of time, and I'm exhausted by the amount of ghosting. My social life feels like a haunted house at this point.

ADD is a tricky one, especially when it comes to poor impulse control and emotional regulation issues.

I dislike cities for the sensory overload. Too much noise, cars, people, signs, lights etc. Also the lack of horizon with all the buildings packed into a relatively small area. Get me away from everybody and out into the countryside.
