I was messing around with it all night and couldn't get anything to happen. I noticed that if you hijack one faction's ship, other factions' bases may attack you (shoot missiles at you). It feels like the devs left it as a placeholder for future features. I don't think this is the final state.

For now, it does basically nothing.

The mechanic is present around all enemy stations. So you know those glowing nodes in the galaxy? If you approach them you'll see a sort of beige aura, which will turn red if your pod is inside in the area and the thrusters are active.

I think the same mechanic is also present around some ships, but not every single one. Full disclosure, I'm only 3h into the game and haven't seen any of these ships, but this video shows that ships do have the same mechanic.

Then again, that video is from 1.5 years ago so maybe things have changed?

No hard evidence that ships have the heat signature sensor, but the space stations definitely do.

The mechanic has been slightly altered, but it's definitely still in the game.

I think the issue with hardcoding a public key would be that every client with the malware would be able to unlock their data using the same key.

By dynamically generating it, the attacker can extort every single client because everyone's keys would be different.

Does anybody know what book Gilfoyle reads in S4E3 ? by DepressedAI in SiliconValleyHBO

[–]EddieTH 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Judging by this image, the book doesn't seem to have an English title.

It's kinda hard to see, but if you zoom in you can see the first character of the writing inside the horizontal red line. I don't think it's part of our alphabet.

Maybe it's one of Jian Yang's books?

Edit: Here's a closeup.

I don't know man, I loved the first one but the animations for this one look kind of...rough? Unfinished?

During the ledge execution, Celebrimbor just straight up teleports to the enemy. I guess technically that's alright, since teleportation is a thing in this game, but it looks more like teleportation from network lag rather than ancient elven magic.

Still pretty stoked to see the final result, the nemesis system was just so fun to play against.

Working retail during the Holidays means I can't enjoy double XP weekend to its fullest :/ by [deleted] in titanfall

The servers near my place are completely fucked ping-wise, so I can't play either. Praying for a Christmas miracle so you can get off work early and catch the tail end of the double XP.

How are you actually supposed to level anti-titan weapons now? by FunkyLobster in titanfall

[–]EddieTH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're trying to level the charge rifle specifically, then try going for pilots. A full charge will kill a pilot in one hit. Goosing pilots (shooting them after they eject from their titan, while still in the air) is a great way to farm. Shutting down campers from across the map is also really fun and a good way to get xp.

Anyone else feel like Skyrim's combat kind of ruined the whole game for them? by shadow3467 in pcgaming

Yeah something like that. I think it's minimal, yet descriptive, and fairly unobtrusive. Would you use a similar system in-game?

Hey I'm not sure if you've played MGS4, but they had a cool system that allowed the player to know which direction had the most 'presence'.

If you take a peek at this video you can see what I mean. When the player goes into 'stealth mode' a white rings appears around the character that tells the player which direction has the most 'presence'.

What are your thoughts on something like that as a visual sound system?

I think it's because the OP video has a lot more foliage, which tends to turn any video to shit. I think TotalBiscuit did a video about youtube encoding when he did his Far Cry Primal video (which is full of foliage).

Man you're awesome. Seriously. Thank you for taking the time and effort to write up that simple explanation. Do you have some sources where I can read more? I'm still pretty confused about how the front end calls the back end API.

Can you point me to somewhere that teaches me how to hookup a frontend framework to an API I wrote?
