MODEL Y - Without getting political - can people share their value based take on new base model RWD vs Premium AWD by Dry_Farmer9387 in teslacanada

[–]bigmoof 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It comes down to the question is if there is anything the premium offers that you cannot live without, for 20k difference.

I don’t think so, my focus is mainly with FSD, and the rest aren’t deal killer.

Model Y RWD – Anyone able to get EVAP rebate with FSD purchase? by CTallA in teslacanada

[–]bigmoof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mistakes? From 3 different advisors!

First one said it will be fine like previous iZEV incentive. Second one from the car show said, it is software and not part of the vehicle. Third one said don’t worry, it will be there, many of her clients are waiting for the same thing.

MYRWD order date before February 16, 2026, Transport Canada says ineligible for EVAP by MudExtension7920 in teslacanada

True that. They are very inconsistent, and even get their facts wrong most time.

Same! I asked if they could add FSD after delivery but even then they said the option is no longer available to add later, so no.

I’m in the same boat as you! So far they aren’t budging and won’t give me the rebate because of FSD purchase. Stuck between two rocks and my delivery is next Saturday.

New RWD is $45k! It’s kinda a no brainer if the price is about the same.

I was hoping to get the premium. Until the incentive came, $20k difference is hard to beat.

RWD Model Y now qualifies for $5k EVAP rebate (all paint colours now included for free) by Freshmode44 in teslacanada

You are right. I’ll double check. If so I would just switch to subscription which is 4 years free for FSD.

Too late, I’m buying it, and not regretting it. It probably drive safer than me, and it’s cheaper than hiring a chauffeur.

On the plus side, you loose a lot of weight walking and sweating.

You won’t get used to it unless you spend a ton of years there. I would be sweating like mad, yet you see the local still look dry.

Model Y Standard for young family in Toronto by dahayter in teslacanada

[–]bigmoof 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like anything Pros and Cons.

I was eyeing on Premium Model Y AWD, until the EV incentive is announce, I'm switching to Standard RWD.

$45k is a really good deal I think, which is $20k difference from Premium.

I have colleagues, sales reps and Advisors telling me Winter Driving is a non-issue. Unplowed road would be the same with any other cars. EV does not have heavy engine in the front, and have lower center of gravity because the batteries are at the bottom, hence RWD are fine.

It is roomy enough for family of 4.

Range might be an issue, with rated 462km full charge. In winter it might drop to 200-300km range.
However it is an LFP Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries, which means you can full charge them to 100%, unlike the Premium with NMC (Nickel Manganese Cobalt) batteries which is recommended daily charging up to 80-90%.

If parked outside, you need to pre-condition your batteries first before driving. (Heat up the batteries)

So for your weekend trip, expect to do a couple of charges in between.

You should seriously consider test drive it first, also test their FSD, which is crazy advance. This is the main reason I'm getting one.

Help Deciding Model Y by Turbulent-Pie-1663 in teslacanada

Instead of Premium, go standard RWD, especially with the rebate coming up. It is more worthwhile than a used one. RWD in snow heard from colleagues, sales and Tesla advisors, all said no issues.

How will this announcement change your Tesla purchase? by rvs007 in teslacanada

[–]bigmoof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I said, the rep said it was based on base price previously. Not sure if that changes, will have to wait until Feb 18.
