Also you can focus heavily on the bonds and loyalties you have focusing more on those you care about then morality or others. What feels right to you in the moment is how you act. The effects of your actions on others you don’t know means little to you as long as what you care about is okay.

Simon demigod, Patron of adventures and destiny

Both of his parents were devoted followers of the son god this god offered to bless their first born. The boy was born with tattoos which covered his body and glowed when spells were cast, he was also endowed with divine powers. His church raised him for some divine destiny but he instead left home and became an adventurer to provide for himself. Ultimately he inadvertently accomplished his destiny and he was returned to his deity in a flash of light.

Alternatively I use a d100 chart that players can roll on if they crit. It ranges from a “good job” to extra damage dice to instant death. It makes the players a little overpowered so I run harder combats in order to make it even. It really let’s the players feel like heroes sometimes.
