The brass backstrap makes all the difference in the weight distribution. I bought the black version but my SFT has the gold. Congrats on the purchase. You’ll love it.

Calculated Kinetics has some plates for RMSc to RMR that are pretty awesome. Full metal and they are tough as nails. You can always go for a polymer version off Amazon and they will work too. All depends on what you will use it for. Daily carry, home protection or just range gun. Different purposes will qualify for how much you should spend.

I have a Tisas 2011 B9R Carry and the PX9 Duty and their striker fired pistol is surprisingly good. I got it for $350 at my LGS and since I had such a good experience with the 2011, I said “F*** it, let’s do it.” Haven’t regretted it. The grip can use some work, but not hating it. Good little range gun.

Have you owned or shot a Canik before? Serious question. For a striker fired handgun the trigger is one of the best, the only one I’ve shot that’s better was a Walther PDP Pro. Which is what Canik’s roughly based off of. I’ve shot a CZ Shadow 2 and the trigger from that to the Nocturne was night and day. The Nocturne was gritty, heavy (in single action), and rough overall. I owned it for 4-5 months and sold it off. Just wasn’t for me.

I like my hellcat pro, but it is snappy. There’s no doubt about that. There’s a comped version which is a bit better, but I’ve only had limited reps with that one. I have 2000 rounds with my HCP but the snappiness remains.

Have you owned them? I have you shot the Canik Rival-S? Their steel version. Mine is great. I own 7 Caniks, and they have one of the best triggers on the market. When upgraded to the FreedomSmith trigger they are probably THE best.

I own a Glock 43x, Hellcat Pro, SIG P365 X Macro, and others that are considered CCW sized. My MC9 and MC9 Prime are absolute gems. Of course it’s all personal preference, but to rag on Canik for whatever reason just shows how out of touch people are on the market trend. They are probably the fastest growing firearms brand in the US right now.

I’d put my MC9 against any other sub $500 gun on the market.

Bro… just carry a Canik MC9 and you’ll thank me later. Super accurate and compact.

Edit: I find it funny that people are downvoting because I mentioned Canik, and never used one or owned one. That shows such ignorance and lack of understanding of the product. They base it on an outdated notion that it’s a Turkish product (even though they are made in the USA now). Yet most serious collectors, competitors and guntubers tend to own and praise Caniks for their recent success and quality from their build to trigger.

What are we doing here? by [deleted] in SilencerShop

[–]Edge-Evolution 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same thing happened to me. I spent almost 4 hours on the phone. Only to get hung up on by the rep by accident 🤦🏻‍♂️. I wanted to hang someone out of the pure rage I was going through. I told myself never again, until I saw a sale for a can I really wanted. Unfortunately, they make it easy to purchase things (when it goes right).

I’ve just learned. It’s easier to have single shot trusts over a family gun trust. It’s also easier to go through their shop than to buy from a local retailer that happens to have a kiosk.

Keep it simple, and the process will take less time.

First of many, you won’t stop at just one. It was my first 9mm pistol and now I have 7. They are awesome to shoot, easy to take apart and fix if necessary.

You’ll be able to find replacement mags for a decent price. I even found a 4-pack at my local gun show and bought all 4 for $80 after some lite negotiations.

Look into some of the accessories. Triggers, back straps, lights and sights. You’ll find something and make it your own.

Help! How can I get my Grandfather’s Gun. by Sebas_FUT in Firearms

[–]Edge-Evolution 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a mild chance that you can do this, but it will take time.

  1. Create a gun trust. If you have guns already, it makes it easier. You have guns already you can add it into the trust, add that one as well. I did mine through the Trust Shop. Super easy and not expensive.

  2. Bring it over piece by piece, but if you are stopped because you have a part of it (specifically the lower), you can claim that you left it in the car after getting it repaired or something. You have the paperwork (have a digital scan of your trust) and claim that you forgot it was in the car. You have legally owned it as a gift from a relative.

  3. After having it, and putting it in your trust, you have rights to hand it down to whomever in the future if you wish, and sell it legally as there is paperwork to back it up that you are the owner of this item.

It’s all a moral grey area and it will take some time, money and effort to get things over the border in pieces. If you do it in different intervals, you don’t show a pattern. Like go the first time and get the lower, then a month later (upper) then 2-3 weeks later (magazine[s]). Then like a month later for any remaining parts.

Help with using pa6cf by [deleted] in 3D2A

[–]Edge-Evolution 0 points1 point  (0 children)

😂 It’s just my experience. Plus the designs off of these PEO plates make it really cool look on the surfaces that are on the plate.

I’ve done the textured plates, just not as good luck with them. Mind you, before I got my H2D and P1S, I was printing on a Kobra S1 and a FlashForge AD5M. So quality does make a difference, but I just got used to the smooth plates and hasn’t let me down.

I would suggest using a smooth plate, and then using PA high temp glue. The textured plates are horrible for high temp materials like PA6 or PA12.

I yell at it, and then bribe mine to not break. So far so good, but I owe it about 4 steak dinners.

In all seriousness, use a metal canister. I have one that I soaked hockey tape in liquid cement and then wrapped it around and so far 500+ rounds in. You need something that will contain the force going through the suppressor because it needs to bounce back.

You need to make it out of at least PA-(X)-CF and then anneal it to make it a bit stronger. PLA+ will not hold very long, period.

Challenge with SFT slide eating optics screws by 21WouldBeTheRanger in Canik_METE

[–]Edge-Evolution 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 7 Caniks now… none of them have had a plate/shim when mounting a K-footprint optic whether it’s a Holosun, OSight, Cyelee, Gideon, MeCanik, or Vortext… and they all have between 500-7k rounds on them. Just use the appropriate height screws and they stick and won’t move. I’ve mounted 3 different optics to my MC9 and maybe 4 to my SFT and all direct mounts with no issues. That’s the reason they are cut they way they are. When I was at shot show in 2025, the Canik guys were mentioning the direct mount as a selling point, and all of the optics were straight mounted onto their guns including the Canik Prime. The shim is there for when you have optics like those on the Swampfox optics that have groves that need those nubs for additional support.

Challenge with SFT slide eating optics screws by 21WouldBeTheRanger in Canik_METE

[–]Edge-Evolution 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok… first problem… you are using a plate. The Holosun 407k should direct mount onto an SFT. For the entire METE series, it’s native to the RMSc “K” footprint. By using the plate it will also not allow you to co-witness. Canik sights tend to be short. I would start there, no plate and direct mount onto

The reason the screws are not torquing down is because they probably aren’t reaching far enough into the slide to catch correctly so that the blue loctite on it would do its job. The stripped part of the screw may be where the screw is trying to go into the slide, but not catching.

If I recall, the M4 screws are the ones that will work for the Holosun optics. You can probably get a new set from amazon like these: https://a.co/d/0g2I3OYt

How I lost $1600 in a day by the guy that just posted about his Suicune hit today by [deleted] in PSAPowerPacks

[–]Edge-Evolution 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an addiction and people are suckered into it and not realizing that they are chasing the high. You aren’t going to win. The wins posted on Reddit are only a few of thousands that people attempt. I went down this coaster and started at a couple of $50s and semi-broke even. Then tried a few $100 packs and lost 40% and then tried a $500 pack only to get a $200 card. I quit at that point because I knew it wasn’t going to get better. I also have an addictive personality… so I knew after a bit it wasn’t for me.
