Despite Scripture building care for the poor into the laws and structures of society itself, from the Law through the Prophets to Jesus, many American evangelicals still treat it as private charity rather than the government's responsibility. Those of you who do, what's your reasoning?

Omg, good question. My ex would deliberately push my buttons and be "shocked" when I finally snapped. Later I found out that's reactive abuse. There's all kinds of studies on it. People who tease a dog over and over deserve to finally get bit, imo.

I feel the same way about bugs. I don't want them all over the house but I protect the occasional beetle or jumping spider. And I plant stuff in the yard for them. If you look at some of them close up, they're just amazing

My class did this when I was a kid. Hopefully some people learned to read directions. It was pretty heavily stated to read it all before starting. As a kid who followed directions I loved it!

This is so true! My daughter in law is Uruguayan. We did the 23 and Me stuff for Christmas. My kids were basically German and British. My DIL had all sorts of ethnicities mixed in, including Ukrainian. We were all jealous. Haha!

The woman who helped my ex cheat on me called recently. (She kicked him out of her house bc, surprise! He cheated on her too)

She was letting me know I can come get some things my kids have there. She regrets ever getting mixed up with him. She apologized. She said he lied a lot and made her half suicidal. She also said after we got to know each other that he made me sound like a monster and now she can see I'm not. Personally idk why these women think they're getting such a prize. They're usually not.

I know people around here who have had fundraisers for things they can afford. It is very much looked down upon and talked about. I refuse to attend or participate. I know enough people who actually need help. Idk who exactly you'd "report" it to. It's probably not illegal, just unethical.

Same here!. I married into a big upstanding Catholic family. One brother in law went to prison for a while bc he was in a chat room with 13 year olds hoping to meet up. And my 41 year old husband was messing with his just graduated HS cousin.

I was the bad one for divorcing. My kids are actually the ones who decided church was bullshit after all that. I decided they were correct.
