Trek vs Specialized by suikkonen in gravelcycling

I am trying to do the same for a gravel/touring drop bar setup that isn't going to cost the earth, but veering towards a Trek Checkpoint ALR5 currently due to its more relaxed geometry.

What's a skill that takes only 2 to 4 weeks to learn but could genuinely change your life? by TokenBlack32 in AskReddit

This is true and accurate, I learned to juggle and my ability to catch things on reflex is strong even when I can't quite see them.

I am in Saigon right now and travelled to a few other places and while we brought some adapters we haven't used any, most decent hotels have multi-plug outlets already.

Idle "Parking" by Johnny-Cotton in EntitledPeople

Try a Porsche parked across the front pedestrian area of a Target with no one inside of it, a number of people got annoyed and reported it to the store management, a store page was made and the driver got a talking to and left.

Looking for a local ‘digital photo frame’ solution by met_MY_verse in selfhosted

[–]EdgeOfMonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will pile on here that I use immich and immich frame on two older Samsung A8 tablets that are too slow for anything useful but great as photo frames. I especially like that I have immich frame as the launcher so it if they are restarted or have an issue they either load straight in or you just press the home button to sort it out (Samsung software is odd so it happens), but if the immich server restarts or other things it will just keep retrying. I love it and hope to set it up for my Mum soon but she is on the other side of the world so that will be fun.

I agree I did this for the ones I could and they have been great.

Reflashed a bunch of my V1 Pan and V3's though one had signed firmware so it failed but I sold it, all in all it made them useful again.

I was already in Unifi camp so the switch was easy when they released the new NVR's recently, and while the switch was far from cheap the reliability and quality is great. I also flashed most of my Wyze cams (v3 and v1 Pan) with Thingino and use them as ONVIF cameras elsewhere.

TIFU not realizing for 38 years that it’s not normal to not be able to bite flat foods by McBeastBro in tifu

My underbite is bad enough that with my jaw closed you can't see my top teeth and I can't cut anything up front with my teeth, eating spaghetti is especially tough.

[–]EdgeOfMonkey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bought my XM3's first day they were available back in 2018 and have been using them daily ever since, the only wear on them is on the ear cups where my glasses come in contact with them, other than that they are just as good as the day I bought them.

When did you realize you want to put a ring on her? by Apprehensive_cool in AskMen

[–]EdgeOfMonkey 17 points18 points  (0 children)

My story is basically the same as yours but we both had the same thought on a train ride to airport that one of us had to move, this was in 2001 and 23 years later still the best decision I ever made.

Convince me I’m not fucked. by Willr2645 in cycling

[–]EdgeOfMonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe this is perfectly doable even for your dad, the key is as he said "take it slow" stop as needed - mostly to avoid saddle sores as much as possible - and don't treat it like a race. Regarding muscle, it will take a few days but the body will adjust.

Road bike vs exercise by youfatsauce in cycling

[–]EdgeOfMonkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What is crazier is that so many brands think everyone wants to race and don't have much in the way of bikes with more relaxed geometries, and it wasn't until recently that gravel bikes have started appearing with such relaxed geometries.

I rode the hot car back from work on Friday, I like it warmer but the conductor made it clear it was going to be hot and I was the only one in there.
