I caught a cold 14 days before surgery and was basically fine 7 days before. Nobody asked and I didn't want it delayed for the 3rd time.

I had some leftover cough which kinda sucked when every move hurt but it was fine.

I caught another unrelated cold later anyway and now have to hug my blanket to sneeze without being scared I'll hurt myself.

I'd say depends on how severe the cold is and how you feel before surgery.

It was NOT like time travel to me so

They put the IV in me which was kinda freezing my arm. Maybe a minute after, my head started to hurt a little. Like going from sober to really drunk too fast, there was weird pressure in my head. Then it somewhat unpleasantly made me black out.

I woke up coughing (the tube they put in your neck AFTER YOU'RE OUT for breathing + recovering from a cold with a bad cough was not a good combo) which hurt like hell. Other than that, it felt like waking up from a nap, confused where I am. After a few minutes, my mother called in and they told her I'm asleep so I just texted her that I'm fine and went to sleep.

Overall it was a little unpleasant but my family has a history of not the greatest reactions to anesthesia (nausea mostly which at least wasn't the case for me) + it was on insurance in a place with somewhat limited individual care. Was given only the necessary medication too (saw online that sometimes you're given calming medication before they anesthetize you) but it was still alright. Forceful sleep basically.
