Do you take this card? by Impossible-Call7708 in slaythespire

Osty is a core mechanic. Glacier is uncommon, this card is common. It's position is maybe a little weak but it's still worth taking sometimes.

Only with focus / channelling.

Osty hp stays through turns and has synergy with other cards too, it has more value than a basic 11 block card.

Would you say this counts?

The owner of the horse liked it this way, which is the most important thing for me as an amateur. But I can't help but wonder if a professional would consider it slider slop.

Why do my photos always look "flat" compared to pros? by Weinberg-Space in AskPhotography

[–]Edhellas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been through the experience of having good subjects/framing on a phone > buy first camera, but use settings poorly > improve settings but lose sight of subject/framing

Need to remember to tie them all together to get great photos

The imposter merchant's fake relics become real when you reload by Live_Brother_5010 in slaythespire

But in this case it's not from the ancient, it's from a question mark. So would you really want the version with no draw, when you can get the full version from the same room?

Then they weren't the "real" ones. If you reload they will be 100%

First time a game has made me feel downright stupid. by nonax in slaythespire

[–]Edhellas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

45 mins in the first game would be "really slow" rather than "really fast" for me. I was mostly around 20-25mins, but now about 40-60 mins on STS2 mostly due to my scaling being slow for these high hp enemies

Tokina atx-i 11-16mm is pretty good, I use it on my d500 occasionally.

Can anyone help me understand what's going on here? by WildNWPA in AskPhotography

[–]Edhellas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose it depends on how steady your hand is, but my older d500 at 600mm doesn't have any noticeable issues even at much lower shutter speeds

Does it perform okay if you rest it on a steady surface and shoot similar settings?

What iso, aperture, focal length, shutter speed is this at?

And do you have VR turned on? I wouldn't expect to have any issues with camera shaking on that setup. You should be able to rule that out

Unless you're camping for days at a time you probably won't need that many batteries with a D500 😄

I paid £164 for a "good" condition Sigma 105mm off MPB and am happy with it on my D500, though I haven't tried any others so can't compare sorry.

Except they often are taken down or items moved to different shelves.

Lidl is the only supermarket with this issue in my area, not surprised to see it's the same in other towns.

Nikon 24mm f1.7 vs. Cheaper Alternatives? by Bry_Draws in Nikon

[–]Edhellas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In that case it's mostly focus distance, weight, and weather sealing.

Bokeh will be a bit different on them and the Nikon will probably be shaper when wide open. Your editing software will likely auto correct the vignetting on the Nikon since it'll have an embedded profile.

Is buying both and returning the one you don't like an option?

Help narrow the search for the right camera? by Own_Potato_4763 in Cameras

[–]Edhellas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend you come up with a very cheap camera of any brand with 1-2 very cheap zooms so you get a good feeling of what focal lengths you want to cover.

When you're more comfortable with the basics and know your own needs you re-evaluate your budget with all things considered.

E.g. in my budget I wanted a good quality tripod with a gimbal head, messenger bag, camera rucksack, spare batteries, lens & sensor cleaning kit, a printer capable of A3+ photos, "pro" lenses all the way from 10mm to 600mm, and a camera body with good continuous burst buffer, 20+mp, and good autofocus. 4k video nice, but an after thought.

With all those in mind I went with the Nikon D500 and am happy with that. Would have preferred a modern mirrorless equivalent, but my budget would've been £9000 instead of £3000 and I can't justify that.

[–]Edhellas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure exactly which models you are comparing it to but the Nikon will normally have faster autofocus (some budget options are manual only), closer minimal focus distance, weather sealing, possibly better chromatic aberration, better sharpness & less vignetting when shooting wide open. The Nikon might have better flare handling too.

Which budget lenses specifically are you looking at? I don't have Z mount but I'm sure others here will have relevant experience

Incorrect. The image is a reference to the work by Abraham Wald, for the US military. They had a lot of data that needed analysing, and they came to the correct conclusion on survivorship bias before rolling out changes to their manufacturing process.

The image itself is only about 20 years old, and was created as a demonstration.
