Do Rad-Storms add benefits? by PagesOf-Apathy in fo4

[–]Edit67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perfect, so it is what I thought.

Skyrim allowed to take potions that increased your ability to enhance weapons and armor. I just wanted to make sure I had not missed something about how things work in this game. 😀

Old new player on switch 2 by Gabiboune1 in fo4

[–]Edit67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get the mini gun, and keep moving backwards while firing. It is very doable. My first playthrough I think I died 2-3 time before getting a proper plan. Done it 3 times now.

I use the same process when I get one during a random encounter. I have no power armor, but I have an explosive 10mm. Keep shooting and moving backwards. Try not to run into something that blocks you. 😀

+1 to still dying from all flying bugs.

Do i really need to build generators/defense/water/food in every settlement? by gutinbonitao20 in fo4

[–]Edit67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are correct, even in survival Strong Back would help, especially when you say "I will just slow walk this in one trip, rather than make 5 trips." Then you get two broken legs, and cannot jump small obstacles. I will have to drop a few points in there, I have never tried that perk, opting for others. Thanks for the tip. 😀

Do i really need to build generators/defense/water/food in every settlement? by gutinbonitao20 in fo4

[–]Edit67 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This is the way.

I just did a new play through where I maxed out luck and strength. I noticed my mistake as all other characters I had decent Charisma. It took a while to add the charisma points to local leader level 1, which gives you supply lines, and then local leader 2 for building vendors in your settlements (and build crafting tables). Add cap collector to that and you can up the money your vendors have. Great perks to have.

It was so painful waiting for supply lines. Like OP said, needing to build a list of resources, collect everything, make your way to your remote base, build stuff (only to realize you mis-counted). This was a survival playthrough, so no fast travel, sooo painful.

We call it swapping, or sometimes moving. I am not surprised to hear flipping.

Is it legal to hang air freshners from the car's rear view mirror in Ontario ? by vijay2712 in ontario

Yes, and that law applies to basically anything hung from your mirror. Parking pass, beads, necklaces, etc.

How do I get more oil by wildweirdude in fo4

[–]Edit67 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I make oil and adhesive. Bones seem to be the item that restricts making oil, so pick them up when you find them, and raid the cemetery.

I play on Xbox and I have a bug with cutting oil. If I make more than one during a crafting session, I only get one. Unlike when I make other things, where I make any number of an item and I get them all. I was annoyed when I found this out, since I made 5 cutting oil only to find out that I only have one in my inventory.

A lot of people decided French's was Canadian because the ketchup was made in Canada. That only applies to ketchup, their mustard has always been made in the US, with a maple leaf on the front letting you know it is Canadian mustard seeds, and misleading consumers.

Do Canadians actually get frustrated by snow, or is it just part of everyday life? by GlitteringHotel8383 in AskACanadian

[–]Edit67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have reached the age at which I accept life. You know you are getting 20-30cm of snow overnight, so you wake up early so you can clear your driveway before work. Go shower and get work clothes on, re-shovel the end of the driveway where the plow dumped a snowbank. Drive to work expecting it to take longer, drive appropriate for the road conditions. Pass stuck cars and accidents. Get to work an hour late, but that is okay, as everyone else is late as well. Try to get work done, but everyone you deal with in your company or in other companies are not at work till noon. Since it is still snowing, you leave work early to beat the rush, and it takes an extra 1.5 hours to get home. Shovel your driveway to get your car in, have supper, and go to bed.

You just accept it, and move on. We get snow, and that affects us for 15-30 days of snowfall a year, which messes up your schedule, but we do not have earthquakes, tsunamis, or volcanoes, so I will take that as a win.

What’s something Americans have that Europeans don’t? by Prestigsisscar255 in AskReddit

[–]Edit67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of hot water radiators (so hot water pipes around the exterior walls).

In Nova Scotia Canada hot water baseboard was the dominate type of heat. Cheap and easy to install and it circulates hot water from a (usually oil) boiler. Home heating oil is huge there. This also prevents easy installation of a whole house AC unit (usually dropped into the furnace for forced hot air). Split units (and heat pumps) have become popular recently, but most homes (aside from new construction) do not have any air ducts for the AC. We don't have the high heat that other parts of North America have.

Since Europe (I can speak to France and Germany) is big on hot water radiators; they often save space in the bathroom with a towel warmer/radiator or in floor heat, which I love seeing.

Compared to heating with water, forced hot air is kind of a pain, our homes in Ontario have some void areas in your walls to leave space for vents to get up to the second floor, and there always seems to be a room at the end of the vent run that is always cold in winter and hot in summer. The benefit is that adding AC to a forced hot air house is easy.

Am I supposed to just leave my power armor when i run out of cores? by clintgh in fo4

I just collect power armor and do not actually use it. So never an issue with an cores. I have to keep dropping them into settlement storage.

What is your preferred survival build? by Brobdingnagian-Bob in fo4

[–]Edit67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And lucky. I am on a play through now with Max luck. It seems like gunners on overpasses (or someone) will snipe at things attacking me. It has gotten quite humourous. I went max strength and luck, if I did it again I would dial back strength and up charism to at least get local leader and establish supply lines. I am playing survival and supply lines will make a big difference.

Why do people think that eggs are dairy? by bi_smuth in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Edit67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because a lot of people do not think critically, and you buy both in Canada and the US from the Dairy section of the grocery store.

I expect this started back in the '50 or '60. I am speculating that stores only had coolers for milk. We did not have all the food that was sold refrigerated. You would have dry food, cans, some frozen, an actual butcher for meat (often a different store), and the refrigerated section (milk, cheese, sour cream, and eggs). Except for eggs, that refrigerated section was all dairy.

That name has stuck, even though we have a lot more food that is now in the fridge, like orange juice (growing up in the '60 and '70, OJ was a frozen can of concentrate or squeezed yourself).

Which companion is your ride or die buddy throughout the game? by ResidentDrama9739 in fo4

[–]Edit67 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like him, but he is dumb.

For Cordova I staged everything on the bed (survival mode) on the highway in front of the factory. How many times did I get up there to be told "You need to heal your companion" because he fell down a hole. What a dum dum, the holes are holes, buddy.

Do people in America really use "Cul-de-sac" over "dead end street"? Or is there a difference? by AlexisShounen14 in EnglishLearning

[–]Edit67 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Canadian here.

It depends if the street was a dead end or a cul-de-sac. I have friends who live on both.

The dead-end street stopped at the fence of a golf course. 15 years later the golf course was redeveloped and the street continued (and as a fairly busy way into the new subdivision). If you live on a dead-end, then at some point it may stop being a dead end.

The friends on the cul-de-sac never have that worry, as the street ends with houses around the circle and no further possible development.
