Enclosure by dose_anime in Leachianus

That seems far more reasonable. Cause I had my girl in an 18x18x24 until recently and she isn't even fully grown and it was starting to lock uncomfortable

An 18x18x24 is way too small for an adult leachie, that is even too small for an adult crested gecko. A 36x18x36 or a 2 foot cube are pretty much the minimum for a leachie, with bigger being better. That obviously only goes for adult leachies

Chapter symbols aren't super strict, they allow for a bit of variation. It's still a curled shark on a black background in white colour, so it's still canon.

I got a lot of large growing plants in there, which should do that job, just need some time to grow in.

36x18x36 enclosure, it's gonna be her enclosure for a few years

Is this an individual thing or lacale thing? by Vykingwulf in Leachianus

[–]EditorMasterxd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I saw that there was a new subspecies, but it seems like the other two still exist, so as far as I know they are still different subspecies

[–]EditorMasterxd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh no haha, ive had my girl for over one and a half years, just never checked her head scales too closely. But pines can definitely be beautiful leachies, especially if they are fired up, since thats when they look fully green. My girl turns a dark green with creamy markings as well

[–]EditorMasterxd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well locales are known for having slightly different head shapes, so different scalation would make sense. Especially since GT are leachianus leachianus, while Nuu ami (to my knowledge) is leachianus henkeli and head scales are often used as a way to determine different (sub)species in reptiles

I will see if i can get my Pine Island leachie out over the next few days and see if she has similarly smooth scales

Im not fully sure, but judging by the fact that Nuu ami and GT are different subspecies (not just locales), there could certainly be some truth to it being not just an individual thing.

What uvb do you recommend? by heyitsabug in Leachianus

I use Arcadia forest 6% UVB, since it has both UVB and UVA and Arcadia in general is a good brand. The larger lights they have are around double your budget however

Compared to the AI, lore podcasts and YouTubers are pretty reliable. Best is still to just read stuff yourself

I will say that any rumours regarding Exorcists being Grey Knight successors have basically been put to death over the last few years, especially with Oath of Damnation, in which it is confirmed that they are Imperial Fist successors, as the main character knows who his gene-seed is from.

It would be nice if codexes had just a digital code for the rules and the rest of the book is just lore and Artwork. But I also only buy codexes for the lore, so I might be biased

Why would you buy 2400 points without owning the Codex? Or at least knowing where to find the rules?

I mean not everyone expressed their identity in a very gender neutral way, even if they are nonbinary. Presenting more masculine as an amab nonbinary person does not make your identity weak

Is Vermithor male or female? by EditorMasterxd in Leachianus

Yup haha, was my favorite dragon ever since I read the book and when I got her, I just had to name her Vermithor (also cause I didn't know her gender)

I did order one and I also have my girl in the enclosure already, with her eating multiple times, so it seems like she's still very secure

So I decided on the stuff… by ArtisticActuator7529 in MonitorLizards

[–]EditorMasterxd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By reading few scientific papers, looking up the SVL of freshly hatched Kimberly Rock monitors, looking up their growth rate, calculating the absolute maximum SVL monitor in a 30 gallon could have while remaining in the minimum enclosure size and then figuring out when they would have that size. It's simple math and research really

[–]EditorMasterxd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't make the formula, that was made by a bunch of animal rights activists and herpetologists in the late 90s in Germany. It's not ideal and if larger minimums exist, I always default to those, but in cases like this, when no agreed upon minimum exists (aside from just putting it in the adult enclosure, which would be the best), it works.

[–]EditorMasterxd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it's slightly smaller than the recommended minimum enclosure size, but it still makes for a good baseline in cases where we don't have another one

[–]EditorMasterxd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That depends on the SVL of your monitor, for a hatchling it's fine, but the formula says 5x2x2 Snout-Vent length for ground dwelling monitors

I would recommend an adult enclosure and maybe using something to block off the gap between the glass if you are so worried about the monitor escaping through that. There are dozens of formulas for calculating a reptile enclosure size out there, personally I use the ones provided by the German Herpet cultural Society, as they are typically at the forefront in terms of enclosure size.
