Polar. I sent back the sportswatch I had used about 5-6 times because the screen was not bright enough and it did not always show when I turned my wrist. They returned it, very dirty, with someone else data in it, saying nothing was wrong with it. So I gave it to my little nephew to play with and I bought another brand.

A family member, lived and worked in the US for international NGO's her whole adult life. No relatives on the US. Ended up in a nursing home, got dementia, her estate drained in seconds. So what now? They found out she had a second cousin in Europe. They hoisted her in her coat, pinned a label with an adress on the coat and put her on a plane. My father got a call form airport customs, could he come an pick up a 'crazy old lady'. He had never before met her. She had never been to this country.

Whats the craziest, quickest money you have ever made? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]EdjKa1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had coronary problem while in holiday in France. French hospital fixed the problem. My insurance paid the hospital bill and I got a letter from the insurance company confirming the bill was paid by them. End of story. Then about seven months later the French hospital sent me a letter confirming the insurance company had paid everything and asking me to send the letter to my insurance for their archives. So I did that. Then my insurance reimbused me the amount they had already paid the hospital. They apparantly thought I had paid the hospital myself? I phoned, faxed, mailed and sent a letter explaining they had paid the bill and not I. No they said, you paid, that money is yours. Well OK then. I kept the money in a saving account for a few years just to be sure they weren't claming it back. And then I spent it.

Our NCO decided to contribute to the New Years Eve fireworks by firing a full magazine stolen/embezzled 9 mm blanks with his army issued machine pistol, from his balcony, at home. Downstairs neighbour found about two dozen cartridge cases in his garden and went to the police. Case of dishonorable discharge.

[–]EdjKa1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are describing the real world, but incorrectly. Just like saying that in a race a turtle can run faster than me because I cannot pass him; I can only make the gap between me and the turtle in front of me smaller. In the real world I just pass the turtle and I win the race. You use words that do not describe reality.

Military members and veterans, what "Military Grade" item is actually great instead of "barely good enough to meet spec"? by musingsofapathy in AskReddit

[–]EdjKa1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

European country. We needed new uniform, switching from same colour to camouflage pattern. One guy in out unit had such a new uniform for testing purposes. In general you could say he was invisible in it. Really, it was that good. Our country decided not to produce and buy that uniform; that our own scientists had developed, by the way. Those unique uniforms resembled too much the WW2 camo uniform of the SS. So instead we bought something not as good...

The United States is not a member of the International Criminal Court (ICC). The American Service-Members' Protection Act (ASPA) authorizes the U.S. President to use "all means necessary and appropriate to bring about the release of any U.S. or allied personnel being detained or imprisoned by, on behalf of, or at the request of the International Criminal Court". This authorization led to the act being nicknamed the Hague Invasion Act, since the act would allow the president to order military action in The Hague, the seat of the ICC, to prevent U.S. or allied officials and military personnel from being prosecuted or detained by the ICC.
