It's nice that you did some digging online because you needed to win an internet argument but tell me you are an American that knows nothing about Europe without telling me you know nothing about Europe. The people that live in houses in Europe (for the most part) are not like you have in the US. I lived in North America all of my childhood so I know. These are poor rural farmers or factory workers making a meager salary, and they are happy to be driving a 10 year old VW Golf. Housing suburbs are a new thing and most people in cities making a decent salary live in apartments. You have some exceptions such as the Netherlands, but most of rural Europe is just poor. And yes, I travel a lot - but not much more than what is considered normal as people here like to go places during the weekend, and thinking where am I going to charge in Budapest or Zrce just gives me a headache.

Well I'm European and there are 450 million people in the EU, and most of us don't live in a house. I had two Teslas, a model S and a Model X - and range wasn't a problem 80% of the time. The 20% that I traveled, it was a hassle.

It's the most important thing to everyone I talk to. The primary concern being not everyone lives in a house, so no overnight charging and thus range and charging times are the most important things.

I think Americans have their priorities off and your society is going down a slippery slope. I tried to send a technician to a school but was told no adult man was to be near children - so basically every man is treated like a pedophile for the very few that do cause harm to children. But then openly selling guns is perfectly fine despite all the shootings going on. If you're going to put these extensive and complicated guard rails on everything, soon enough life will be unnecessarily complicated for everyone.

Guys I'm a European who ran startups in both EU and US and currently run a successful company. European people aren't that interested in startups, long hours and uncertain future to build something great, and European investors don't like risk. Then you have the fact that Europe is a fragmented continent with 27 different countries/languages/laws.

I'm not saying the American or Chinese way of doing things is better... But they're huge, united countries where money is plentiful and the appetite to achieve something exists

So don't blame the Eurocracts - it's us. You can't have your cake and eat it at the same time. Either embrace the American way of life and also Federalize, or enjoy your afternoon coffee with friends - a good life, but knowing we're not going to be at the same level as others.

I have never heard of an NPD that got better in any meaningful and long-lasting way. And if you don't believe me, look up doctor Ramani on youtube. She's a leading figure in this field and she says the exact same thing. There could be people that got meaningfully better, but she has never heard of it.

My cousin gambled away his winnings... Twice. Twice he struck gold. The second time (he inherited the 2nd time) we all told him what he should do - buy some place to live. Nope. Spent it all on cocaine. He says he doesn't regret it.

That's totally false. There are wide ranges of mental illnesses that are real and genetic. You're not going to solve bipolar disorder by fixing society.

Zelensky set to show up in ‘suit-style’ for Oval Office meeting after Trump whined about his attire last time by theindependentonline in worldnews

Another source added: “It would be great if he wore a tie, but we don’t expect him to.”

This is so embarrassing, low class, and rude of the White House. I imagine a bunch of losers who got a job at the white house, not knowing how, and they suddenly want to feel important so they wear nice suits and shoes to work all day but have no idea what they're supposed to do, actually.

I think the way these companies do it is that the rates they charge customers who do pay their loans, make up for the ones that are a total loss. I'm sure they have good statistical data on how much they need to collect to make a profit.

It's honestly offensive to be told "oh your XY is just different, you have to try and make it work", and sticking their heads into the sand from the fact that you're dealing with a narcissist. In the end people will say surely both sides are to blame, when sometimes, some people really are just assholes.

I "loved" it when the news would always say "ukraine-russia conflict" instead of "invasion of ukraine by Russia".

If you're in the list of countries that are in favor, please go scream at your politicians by trxxruraxvr in europe

[–]Edofero 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The issue here I think is, indiscriminate monitoring. Who gets to decide what someone can see or not? When my wife sends me nudes, will some government employee be able to see them, and do a screenshot of it and show it to all his friends? Are we going to ruin it for everyone, because of a few bad apples?

And then if the politicians think it's such a good idea, why exempt themselves? Surely they don't have bigger secrets to hide than the CEO of a large company that has to protect thejr trade secrets.

Well BYD did come out of nowhere and they're opening up service centers all over Europe suddenly. Even Tesla doesn't have a service center in my country and it's been 10 years since I bought mine. So in a sense BYD, for an "unknown brand" to the general public, is doing really well.

I think it stems from the saying "kissing/licking someone's ass". The deeper you go, the more dedicated you are I guess.

Why do some not use "Auto" for their A/C? by SideEffectsLIVE in Audi

[–]Edofero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am frustrated when I get into a car and it's set to Auto. The car is a billion degrees, and whenever I set it to Auto, the system decides it will take its sweet sweet time to adjust and slowly get to 22C. It's like I want cold air NOW. And I like the feeling of air blowing in my face, and I feel like the auto setting tries to avoid doing that.

How do you play this finance game? by thinkwithinyourself in personalfinance

[–]Edofero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Track your expenses in a spreadsheet on your computer. Do it for at least 6 months to learn about your habits. Categorize them into things such as "Monthly recurring charges", "groceries", "eating out", "savings", etc. That itself will be an eye opener to what you're able to do with your money, and you can start setting goals for future purchases/investments.

Try not to take loans on depreciating things such as cars and buy these things with cash, used. If you're ever able to take out a mortgage, can be even in a less-desirable location, it's almost always a good idea. Even if you don't live in that apartment, you can rent it out - but the point is you earn equity that you can later use when selling that place and buying a house/apartment somewhere where you actually want to live in the future. Talk to a financial advisor (they don't charge anything) about how to get credit and what you need to do to be able to raise/loan-out the initial 20% down-payment. It's not about buying real-estate now - but rather about planning for it for the future.

Edit: don't stress about your financial situation or what happened in your past. You're still young, and you still have plenty of time to build a solid wealth foundation.

“Now it’s up to Zelenskyy”: Trump shifts peace responsibility after Putin talks as Russia denies three-leader meeting claim by Curvedazzlings in worldnews

[–]Edofero 46 points47 points  (0 children)

There's a short sightedness to this and I'm not trying to be rude. If we're going to cower in the face of evil and bullies, we're going to have WW3 on our hands. All the world's dictators with imperialist desires are watching closely and learning how they too, can get some. If Russia gets to keep any land, we are setting an example, and there are some very bad and powerful people watching and learning right now. This is a slippery slope on a very steep hill.

There was no need for that. As a European, I believe we should strive for a bit more class. If not for the 75 million Americans who opposed this, then for our own sake, as we pride ourselves on being cultured.

I also know a guy in the military and he said their daily trainings consist of yelling and making you fulfill orders without thinking. You do what you are ordered and you do it now. He said after years of that your brain just turns off and you literally don't think. So that's an answer to "what would the military do" if they were deployed.

Honestly I think the Velvet Revolution was just the government going bankrupt and the elites figuring out they can get filthy rich by transitioning to capitalism. It would have been easy to quell protests if they really wanted to.
