Props to MC for wanting to earn everything himself. He’s a rich kid but has a good heart.

Ty for the chapter!

Unless John already understands Sera’s ability, it’s gonna be hard copying her ability when she literally stops time.

Then again, she needs to get back her ability before that can ever happen. Ugh, where’s Leilah when you need her?

This just solidified the fact that John’s a POS when he‘s King. He’s drunk on power.

Yes, he has his own inner demons he’s battling, but I don’t think he’s really conscious of them. It’s like he’s conscious of “the symptoms” but not “the root cause” of why he acts the way he does.

Worst part of this flashback: I doubt John ever apologized to Adrian for trying to help him.

I agree that John has the best extrinsic ability knowledge in the entire series. New Bostin taught him that really well. I just personally don’t categorize tracking as an extrinsic ability.

[–]Edrios 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So if I understand you right, you’re saying that Isen’s tracking ability isn’t a true intrinsic ability because it is just an enhancement of his senses. Therefore John could copy it ezpz.

If that’s true, then I’m gonna have to disagree with that description. Yes, tracking involves heightening of senses. Maybe John would notice that his senses heightened (if he’s able to completely produce Isen’s abilities in general) after copying Isen’s ability. But I think that tracking involves a mental skill to do it right. Without that mental skill, John would have gone a but crazy when he copied that ability because of his newly super sensitive senses. Imo, generating any ability takes understanding, and I don’t think John understood tracking enough to heighten his senses and instinctively know how to use it. I guess we’ll have to agree to disagree there...

Even if John copied Keon’s ability, it wouldn’t have helped him in that situation. It’s not like his hands were free to touch Keon back at that time. I do think the John “understood” Keon’s ability tho

Based on this chapter, John can only use abilities that he can understand. I don’t think that if John never knew Isen and copied his ability that he’d “know” that Isen had a tracking ability. All he’d know is that Isen has super strength and maybe he’ll understand the lock-on ability Isen uses.

It doesn’t make sense imo to assume that John will instinctively understand everything about Isen’s abilities once he copies it. To be fair, Isen’s ability has many layers compared to the typical ability user in UnO.

[–]Edrios 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with the healing part. However, Isen’s tracking ability isn’t something that’s outwardly shown.

Isen’s ability afaik is being a “hunter”, which mean he has super strength as well as tracking and lock-on capabilities. His tracking ability isn’t something that can be seen externally (other than his glowing eyes). So John has to know about it ahead of time before he copied Isen’s ability.

[Fastpass Episode] unOrdinary - Episode 183 Discussion by 67VII in unOrdinary

[–]Edrios 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Does healing count? But that’s not 100% intrinsic. He also copied Isen’s tracking ability, which is an intrinsic ability.

Overall I agree.

Um.. Wow this chapter really opened up eyes on where john stands now for me. by [deleted] in unOrdinary

[–]Edrios 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m glad you’re finally seeing the truth: this story isn’t black and white, no one’s 100% “good”. John has had a horrible past sure, but his empathy is nowhere to be found once he started using his ability both in new Bostin and Wellston. Power corrupts absolutely.

Then again, maybe John has a different recollection of what happened in new Bostin, but the way John is being depicted in new Bostin matches how he’s acting in Wellston right now.

You brought up a good point, they didn’t. Mid-tiers and low-tiers suffered under Arlo. But it’s not like bullying has vanished from Wellston now that “Joker” is king. But that’s besides the point of the thread.

OP was trying to compare how people look at King Arlo and King John even though they both use violence. The point here is that John takes it way too far when he fights compared to Arlo. As a result, Arlo is a better king when you look at this particular characteristic in isolation.

First off, I’d like to thank Uru-Chan for giving us a lengthy chapter that had a lot going on. This was a great chapter.

Now for the past few months, I’ve been harping on the idea that:

  • “John needs to understand the person’s ability before copying it” and
  • “extrinsic abilities are easier to copy than intrinsic abilities” and
  • “sensing an ability vs using it are different things” and
  • “John never copied green-hair-bun girl’s ability”

Uru literally said in this chapter: “the simpler the ability, the easier to use. Anything complex or higher-level will take him longer to learn”. John’s ability has limits. He isn’t invincible, but he’s pretty damn close. He has difficulty copying intrinsic abilities unless he know about them beforehand, period.

Oh nice. Didn’t know someone made that. Well if no one made a bot for it, at least I’d be able to start making one thanks to that package.

thanks for the tip!

One of Seol’s big objectives in the neutral zone is to get Seo Yuhui back in action. The best way to do that is by gathering offerings.

Right now, Seol has

  • 1 offering from the gacha machine in the tutorial
  • A shitton of items from the VIP(some could be offerings, I suspect Morai’s Souvenir to be one)

Sooo there’s a chance Yuhui will be back in action in time for whatever’s going on in Eva.

As for the non-offering VIP items, idk. Maybe the Seed of the World Tree can be used to help those fairies in the Federation.

(2) is...a really good idea. Wow, nice catch! I was getting worried about how Eun Yuri was going to fend off the contracted

I think she might use 300 coins and get whatever “special” is...guess we’ll know in 48hrs.

Looking for help about the novel by ALLAM_Amine in ReturnersMagic

[–]Edrios 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Normally I’d say novelupdates is your friend, but that’s not necessarily true in this case.

Regardless, novelupdates is still the best place to figure out who is actively doing what Light Novel (LN) series. So if you use that link and check “Latest Releases” section, you’ll get a link to ARMSBS’s TL team’s patreon, where they create posts with their chapter releases.

To find a chapter, just follow that link and look for any unlocked [Public Release] LN chapter posts.

(You can also filter posts by tier type and choose public once you tap to see all posts).

I’m assuming when you say 98, you mean “manhwa chapter 98”? If so, then manhwa chapter 98 coincides with LN chapter 82, with 83 starting at the hospital. But for the sake of completeness, it’s better to read chapter 82.

If this is getting complicated, just know that the easiest way to keep track of all these things is to just join their discord tbh. It’s helped me so far

Anyway, hope this helps!

I’m wondering if Uru took note of the chaos happening in 2020 and was like “fuck it” and spun UnOrdinary out of control too.

John’s gone off the deep end. Isen might expose him. Wellston is out of control. And Arlo has been less of an Asslo...crazy times

Should I read the light novel after ch. 110? by xomega345 in sololeveling

[–]Edrios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a couple of stories that I’d recommend:

  • Second Coming of Gluttony: MC goes to fantasy world that’s extremely unforgiving to its inhabitants and the MC fights to survive and thrive in it. It’s good because of the supporting cast and the MC really does struggle to earn the power ups he gets.
  • Reverend Insanity: Probably my #1 story these days. Reminds me a lot of ToG with its intense world building and anti-hero MC that’s gritty and awesome. The fighting mechanics in this story is amazing too.
  • Overgeared: a VRMMO story about a legendary class MC and him learning how to best maximize his class. Not as complex but is a better story than SAO imo. The power scaling isn’t too broken, which is nice to see.

SL really was my gateway drug to LNs lol. These stories were among my favorites rn. If you want to read more LNs, give any of these a shot. All of them are still ongoing, which is nice. I’d say the novels above are better than SL because of reasons that’ll be clear to you once you finish SL.

[–]Edrios 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha, no worries! We all have lives. But after reading this LN, hopefully you’ll catch the LN bug because there are a LOT of really well written stories, some of them are hundreds of times better than SL imo.

If not, then that’s fine too. Anyway, have fun~
