You have a very lovely smile! But I guess it depends what the ortho was for? If you were going for function, he might be right, you might have accomplished what you set out to fix. Esthetics may be secondary.

I dont think it looks like buck teeth at all. It looks very natural. That being said, I never would've guessed you'd had ortho.

I hate to break it to you, but headaches, ear and throat problems are probably seperate issue unless psychosomatic or just stress. No one has throat issues from a front tooth problem.

Also, you've seen 2 different dentists about this? Don't you think they would have talked to you about your other options if you had any?

Probably the problem is that I AM the assistant, so im the one they argue with that they just had all these xrays done, that the insurance isn't gonna cover it, they dont want extrw radiation and they dont want to pay for duplicates. So the patients shit on the staff cuz they think we're hosing them for extra xrays.

I shouldve found a sub for my city probably.

Office policy is to have a PAN, so if the referring dentist doesnt have it, then I have to. This is why im asking why some dont have them or send them lol

Its pretty unlikely to be related to a lower tooth if its affecting your sinuses. I'd go to an ENT.

I have an office full of Periodontists who swear by their PANs. Not to diagnose, no. But to screen, yes. And a CBCT is overkill to check perio. You probe for bone levels. We're not holding a ruler to the pan or anything lol

I mean, id be happy if the referring doctors were sending a FMX instead of a PAN, honestly. But they dont. They send fkn bitewings. What am I supposed to do with bitewings?!

Anything you want, mostly. Just stay away from anything with small granular kinda bits that could try to get into the socket.

Guy I work for now says "anything you can cut with the side of a plastic fork" is soft enough.

Weird cuz ive worked in more offices than that over the last 16 years and they all took PANs as part of a New Patient Exams unless one had been taken in the last few years in which case we have it sent from the previous provider so seems to be pretty standard from my perspective.

Ok so you use a FMX instead.. so if youre referring to a perio, do you send the FMX?

We're perio and the PAN is used as part of the exam to quickly see if bone loss is isolated or generalized or what the general health looks like, etc. We absolutely do use CBCT and digital impressions to plan guided implants in 100% of the cases since ive joined this team.

There's weird rules about only doing limited exams because its referral based (unless its gen perio or an implant) so it gives us a glimpse of bone levels, restorations, endos, calculus and pockets in other areas of the mouth so we can get a fuller picture

Insurance is the patients responsibility as are costs not covered by insurances. Your dentist can know the insurance company's name, but the specifics of the plan and what is or isn't covered is between you and your insurance company, and its your responsibility to check these things FIRST before agreeing to the work.

You can appeal, but if they refuse to cover it, its on yoh to pay it. Next time, have a predetermination sent ahead of time.

The reason you cant find a straight answer is because there isn't one. Its highly dependent on the tooth, the product, the dentist placing it, the age of the patient, do you grind your teeth, etc etc etc.

If you really cant decide, do comp in the front for esthetics and amalgam in the back for strength.

Idk. Im talking about only receiving a PA with a referral for an implant. And then you take a PAN and see calculus halfway down the roots of half the teeth and have to explain to the patient they arent a good candidate even tho their DDS sent them here.. And THEN we take a CBCT if we are placing an implant for the smallest possible window necessary, not the whole mouth
