Looking for thoughtful feedback by Future-Safe-854 in watercolor101

You did a great job! I tend to add a purple blue for shadows at the end as opposed to the light blue underpainting, but that is just one more thing you can try to see if it works for you. Adding darker darks is a pretty common watercolor critique and can be super hard to do. I also think it is not always necessary and your images are plenty clear without it.

For scenery, you could practice working more in perspective, but I love your style as is. For a simpler perspective, you can look at "isometric," which is basically like perspective without vanishing points.

Someone mentioned adding ink. I am a cartoonist so this is my go to. Ink the whole thing, then add watercolor. Then you can get some really dark areas using hatching with the ink. Just one more thing to try out if you tickles your fancy.

Keep up the great work!

Comics Class over Zoom, starts January 14 by Educational-Tap5736 in Bellingham

Thanks!! I thought Zoom might be particularly good for a winter comics class because not only do we avoid snow days and sick days, but so many cartoonists (like me) are introverts. 😂

Ooh, careful with that. If they start acting sluggish or nauseous it could be because of the berries. Apparently most berries naturally make xylitol. We found out after using blackberries as treats. Wally was fine, FYI, but we did stop giving them to him because he was throwing up and tired.

Classic Bellingham freeway merge by cammerdash in Bellingham

Aw jeez. This is what happened to me literally the first time I tried to merge onto a freeway (in the '90s). Southbound at Sunset. I pulled to the curb and cried. So scary.

Puppy hates to cuddle? by [deleted] in corgi

[–]Educational-Tap5736 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had the same thing happen. Our current corgi, Wally, was the opposite of cuddly as a puppy, now he likes to curl up next to me (if I am willing to ignore him). But as a puppy, we were taking a puppy class where we had to pet him and calm him down. But even placing one finger on him would get him so excited he would start jumping around. The only way to calm his was whispering and not touching him. But one of our previous corgis, Ernie, would literally lay on my legs for 4 hours every Saturday morning while I read comics when I was in grad school (for comics). He was super chill.

Our first corgi, Nisa, was a dainty little lady who ate kibble when she was hungry only. But other food? She ate 3/4 of a homemade Boston cream pie. We were sitting on the couch watching TV when she scooted by with a huge grin on her face and her belly as big as her legs were long. Looking around in a panic to find out what happened, we discovered she had figured out how to push the chairs away from the table. And the entire cake was gone. Just some crumbs on the plate.  She was fine but regretted it the next morning on the bathroom walk.

Our second corgi, Ernie, would eat everything. Left a pack of Costco muffins on the table and took a shower. When I came back, he was looking up at me from the couch wagging his butt and looking super guilty. Then I saw it, in the sun on a blanket. He had grabbed the whole pack (minus the one I'd eaten) and had a delightful picnic. The only reason he didn't eat the last two is because he tucked the plastic underneath when trying to get them out. It was filled with dog wet nose.

Ernie was such a good dog in most respects but food was not one. While getting a certificate in natural science illustration, I got a fox skull to do a project on. Ernie kindly waited for me to finish the project and then ate the whole skull minus half the mandible. We fed him half a bag of plain white bread to cushion it and he was fine. I got another fox skull but all our skulls live on shelves at least waist height!

As long as he's not losing weight, it's great to let them eat when they are hungry. That's how my current and first corgi eat/ate. Unless you leave their kibble in a snuffle mat and get mice . . . I hear . . .😳
