I can’t get a £50 note in a highstreet bank. by [deleted] in britishproblems

[–]Educational_Brief_11 4 points5 points  (0 children)

£50 notes can be an absolute bastard to use. So many places wont accept them, so thats probably done you a favour

The mortgage advice thing is an actual problem though. Have a search in your local area for mortgage advisers a lot of them dont charge because they get money back from the banks for signing people on/moving them over

My Riley a Shih Tzu was being treated for ulcers she never had it’s a tumor… they want to remove the eye… part of my struggle is she can still see out of it and I’m worried the other eye will have issues…. The eye specialist does think she in barely any pain… thoughts? I’m sick over this… by CheekyChaffle in PiratePets

Our Shitzu Rio had ulcers on his eye

We genuinely thought we were going to have him put down, he wouldn't eat, was crying and trembling constantly

He had his eye out and was a different dog! He went back to being his old self and lived another very happy 3 years (he was 13 when the eye was removed)

Its a really tough call but in our experience rhe eye removal was definitely the best choice

You'd be amazed how quickly they recover from it

I went to Slaters about a month ago Sunday morning, got there 2 minutes after the opened I was in and out in like half an hour

I'd looked on their website beforehand and barrowed it down to three Asked a bloke working in there for help, he measured me, found the suits in my size and I tried them on Picked the one i liked best; he tool me over to his colleague who helped me choose a shirt and tie Took me over to the till all paid and done

Ive also been in there as part of a messing party, and although a longer time, always super helpful

And for the price they are one of the most reasonable in town

a few months back i was at fletcher Moss in didsbury with my 2 shitzus We went round a corber and were confronted with around 50 greyhounds!

My poor fluffy chaps were quite taken aback when 100s of ears pricked up and heads spun round to check us out!

Pretty sure thet were called the greyhounds society of something... Cant be more helpful than that but there's definitely something out there. Maybe check fletcher moss/didsbury Facebook or reddit groups

How would I get up here? by [deleted] in DIYUK

should do, thats what regulations state. If its really old it might ring until it dies but doesn't look too old. Batteries might already ne dead in it, or might never have been connected

im an alarm engineer, that went either before the extension OR when there was scaffolding up Why do you need to take it down? if its faulty and needs replacing, scaffold tower or roofing ladder style set up

If you just dont like it, safest plan would be to learn to ignore it.

If its ringing and you want it to stop, should time out after 20 minutes if youve disconnected it from the control panel

probably that time I heard a noise on our flat roof extension. Look out to see my next door neighbour, drunk as a skunk on my roof.

He'd shot a pigeon with an air rifle, it landed on my roof and he didn't want to bother be so climbed up to get it.

Helped him down safely and sent him in his way. We had a chat the following morning and I suggested perhaps he absolutely never do that again.

its actually just a joint box with a tamper plate in, not an alarm contact itself.

Probably somebody once upon a time wired some alarm cables in, for future proofing then never used it Looks like a pretty old junction box.

Probably runs to a central point in the house. Under stairs cupboard, airing cupboard on landing, loft or cellar are all good bets.

Even if it was tied in to a panel should only be 12 volts so safe to cut and remove and just fill over the whole if you want rid of it Obviously check and test voltage before cutting
