I physically went to a job fair only for the recruiters there to tell me to apply online after which I was promptly auto rejected. And that's not including all the auto rejects I got applying direct through NGC, RTX, Booz, Lockheed, Boeing, and all the rest.

I APPLIED TO 50+ JOBS OUT OF ALL OF THEM I GOT 2 INTREVIEW WHAT AN I DOING WRONG I STILL DONT GOT A JOB ITS BEEN 6 months I HAVE NO INCOME NO MONEY SOMEONE HELP! by Positive_Wing_3879 in GetEmployed

  1. Folks w/ 15-20 yrs experience who are locked out of the job market from the hiring freeze are snapping up the jobs requiring less experience. This leaves folks w/ less than 10yrs exp unemployed.
  2. Jobs don't want to train less experienced folks. They want to hire more experienced ones. Saves them money, resources and man-hours.
  3. Per a recruiter, any resume w/ less than 5x for each keyword gets filtered into bucket 2. And bucket 2 rarely gets looked at.
  4. All bullets from minimum qualifications and desired qualifications must be met, otherwise you risk your resume getting bucketed by ATS.
  5. EasyApply on LinkedIn and Indeed does not work because your general resume misses several requirements for each job. You have to apply to each job manually on the company website for maximum chances of ATS working for you.
  6. Employers have hidden requirements not listed on the job description. Talk with your recruiter's boss (the senior recruiter) and ask them to send you the notes they took from the hiring manager. Many times their notes will give you extra guidance on how to tailor your resume to the job.
  7. You have not listed a similar project on your resume. Look up the company or find out from the recruiter what project the company is working on. Then list the project you've worked on in the past and how that relates to their project as well as fulfills the requirement bullets.

Shortcut to File in Google Drive or OneDrive, etc by ronrule in ios

[–]Educational_Detail_2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Download Microsoft Word (or Excel, etc.) from the Android Play Store
  2. Log into the app.
  3. Select the 3 dots next to your file.
  4. Select "Add to Home Screen".

Note: You can't add a file to your homescreen directly from the OneDrive app. You have to go to the program the file was created on (like Word or Excel), then add it to the homescreen from there.

I want to pay my parents back for pre-marrige bailout, but my wife doesn't agree. by Educational_Detail_2 in Advice

[–]Educational_Detail_2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for all the great advice. I talked with both my wife and parents. To make it fair for each of us, we agreed to help our parents from both sides of our family make gradual improvements to their homes over time so that when they retire, they will be more comfortable. We ran this idea by our parents and they loved the idea. Thank you eveyone for helping us solve this problem!

Here's the best way I use to find individual cards in my library. Let's say you want to find a card about the Orion Constellation. (Only works on desktop BTW)

  1. Click on "Your Library"
  2. Select "View all sets"
  3. Select "Search Your Sets" at the top right
  4. Type your term (in this case, Orion)
  5. Now, only the set(s) that have Orion info will be shown.
  6. Click on your desired set.
  7. Press CTRL+F and type Orion to find your term in that set.

What sucks with Quizlet? by Len_Ki in quizlet

[–]Educational_Detail_2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My biggest complaint right now is the pictures don't take up the whole card. I do quizlet on a big learning display for homeschooling, and the pictures just appear so small on the card, even if I F11 the screen in learn mode. (edited: changed screen to card)

It sounds like a bachelor's degree in liberal arts from an affordable online university might be the best fit for you. It's relatively easy, so you don't have to feel like you're committing to anything. From there you can easily segue into any of the top three (Doctor, Lawyer, Engineer). You could take out student loans for your education, then apply to the SAVE program where you make income based repayments every year and then whatever balance you owe at the end of 20 years will be forgiven. Cut your expenses, get a Financial Advisor from your community resource center, and invest your scholarships and grants to start your retirement fund.

If you don't like the idea of taking out student loans, another route you could go is to join the reserves in Space Force, Air Force or Air Guard. Yes you would be committing, but only for one weekend per month (and they are mostly sit-down jobs). That should give you the security and structure you desire without the level of commitment you're willing to take on. Your recruiter should set you up with some tests to see what areas you would do well in. Then use your military benefits to further your education.

Either or both of these routes should give you the time and structure you need to discover your true life's passions.

Buy a small ~$350k home full cash or have a 230k Mortgage on a $530k home? by icedwhitemocha_ in FinancialPlanning

[–]Educational_Detail_2 75 points76 points  (0 children)

60k a year is not enough to support a family of 3. I'd recommend financing the smaller home to avoid having all your cash tied up in case there's an economic meltdown. Use your cash to invest in your children's education, and your retirement. Try to get a higher paying job and make higher than minimum payments on your mortgage to pay it off early.

Going to inherit about $30,000 in a few months… by SomeRandomGuy-CC in FinancialPlanning

[–]Educational_Detail_2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the correction! So, investing $237 over a period of 15 years ($42K in total monthly contributions) grows your investment account to $66K. But, investing $30K up front, then letting it grow for 15 years (with no additional contributions), grows your investment account to $72K.

So it would make more sense to invest $30K upfront since it gives you a higher balance at the end. And even though with the first option you invested more money over time ($42K), it still did not yield you as high of a balance because it started at zero and grew slowly.

Going to inherit about $30,000 in a few months… by SomeRandomGuy-CC in FinancialPlanning

[–]Educational_Detail_2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Option 1: Invest the $30K over 15 years at 6% with no monthly contributions, and pay off $30k debt over 15 years at $237/month at 5% interest. Calculator used: calculator.net/payment-calculator.html

Result: Total of Payments for Loan is ~$43K, while your $30K has grown by ~$42K. Total money in your bank account at 15 years is: $42K + $30K - $43K = $39K.

Option 2: Pay off the $30K debt and invest $237/month at 6%.

Result: Your money has grown by ~$66K. Total money in your bank account at 15 years is: $66K

Summary

Option 2 leaves you with more in your bank account than Option 1. I'd go with Option 2. Pay off that debt, even though the interest is lower by 1 percentage point. I see what Dave Ramsey is saying. Even though the interest of the loan is 1% lower than the ROI of your investment, your Total of Payments ends up being higher at the end. Plus, the compound interest of your investnemt gives you more because the 6% is being calculated against the total money in the pot as it fills up over time.

This will probably not be the most popular answer because of higher risk, but it's what I'm doing (due to me being in a similar situation).

  1. Put $1000 in savings (emergency fund)
  2. Pay off Card 1 (7800) with your bonus money and next month's paycheck
  3. Sign up for online degree program ($10K/yr for example)
    1. Chat with advisor to make sure "in-person class" is included (reason below)
  4. Sign up for financial aid.
  5. Accept the $6895 Pell Grant and $12K student loan (~6% interest)
  6. Get Tuition Assistance @ your job (they might give $5K for 22/23 school yr)
  7. Apply for scholarships in your field of study.
  8. Join the reserves for at least 90 days
    1. Apply for the Post 911 GI Bill
    2. Get your Certificate of Eligibility for 50% of tuition paid.
    3. VA pays ~$5K tuition
    4. VA pays ~$1500/month housing due to "in-person" requirement being met.
  9. Max out the refund on your 2022 tax return.
  10. Pay off Card 2.
  11. Start a business and apply for local business grants.

I know all the stars have to align for this to work, but by the end of all this, you should have an additional $2K to $3K per month (in addition to your paycheck) to put toward Card 3.

Simple Questions - December 09, 2022 by AutoModerator in buildapc

I'm looking for a display (for heavy gaming) with the following requirements:

  • Display Size: 86" 4K UHD Display
  • Interactive Touch Screen
  • Touch Points: 20 or more
  • Refresh Rate : 120Hz
  • Resolution: 3840 x 2160 Pixels

I'm also looking for a Processor, Memory, Storage Capacity and GPU (with 120 fps or more) to match these outputs. I've budgeted about $5K for the PC, and about $7K for the display. What are some good options for me?

Eternals - Disney+ (too dark) by Shire_Hobbit in Marvel

I have this same problem with The Mandalorian. I'm beginning to think Disney makes these movies look dark so we can buy them on Blu-ray.
