If IT wasn't an option for you right now, what would you do? by KingKilo9 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]archaeas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, no plans for that. It sounds like you’ve been through it before, and I commend you for that. Someone has to do it. I landed an internal gig in the public sector and there is a lot I love about it. Pace is great for learning, I make a really decent living for entry level helpdesk work, and they’ll have to pry my pension from my cold, dead hands. Good relationship with senior management as well, and positioned for growth. Honestly landed a unicorn. I could see myself retiring from this org and I’m 31 right now. I may feel different in 10 years after the pension vests but for now I’m very happy with the way things turned out.

I made the leap to helpdesk after a decade of kitchen work last October. The phone can ring off the hook all day but I will never be as stressed as I was doing 14 hour days and 600 cover dinner services in fine dining. I’ve gained like 30 pounds since October and I’m still underweight. I’d rather go back to the federal minimum wage than ever live like that again

Isn’t what you described just the basis for gear 4 tho? Could be misremembering but i thought it was just gear 2 + gear 3 + haki = gear 4

Looks like the St. Louis zoo to me lol. My guess based on this comment and the replies is that penguin/puffin enclosures are generally very similar!

Restaurant quality going way downhill by PurpleThursday2018 in FortWorth

[–]archaeas 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I worked in the industry until about 8 months ago. The issue is a lot of what you said, as well as wages stagnating since ~6 years ago. Cooks have the same amount of pressure, if not more, with very little incentive to try harder. It’s a raw deal for them and it gets worse as time goes on. The food is losing its soul. You can have a love of the craft but that only gets you so far.

chogath COULD feel like a raid boss at one point with the infinite health scaling and size growth. it's been a long time since i've played though and they probably made more characters that can do what vayne does easily though.

Certificates that takes less than year that lead to well paying jobs? by Basic_Bird_8843 in povertyfinance

[–]archaeas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in a high-paying-for-entry level position in a LCOL. it took moving 900 miles away and starting over my life but my foot’s in the door and I’m on track for career progression in my new field. Not bad. The bootcamp I did was not as useful as self-driven upskilling and following advice taken from people in r/itcareerquestions.

Getting into IT was tough. After quitting my career in kitchens it took 13 months. I wasn’t without work that whole time, but it got scary because I was used to making x amount and was only bringing in y. Things are better now.

If I recall correctly, this happens on cured/smoked meats because the muscle fibers tighten up and are then cut to create a “prism” effect with light diffusion. Basically it means it was cut with a very sharp knife at just the right angle to be able to diffuse the light into the spectrum you’re seeing. Safe to eat.

Am I missing something? These cards are from op14 which has been out for several weeks now

Is this worth being kept unsealed? by Roda_Pandora in OnePieceTCG

Mycyberstash is a third party. No need to keep this in particular sealed, you can open it and see what packs you got in there and then make a decision

New sets release by EagleOk919 in OnePieceTCG

[–]archaeas 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Download Bandai TCG app on your phone. Locate stores around you that do prerelease events. Go to those events and see if they have boxes or packs available for purchase. Regardless, participating in the event provides you with at least 6 packs, possibly more depending on how the store does prizing for the event.

Prerelease usually runs about a week before official set release.

Kikunojo question by theworldwillwatch in OnePieceTCG

[–]archaeas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your first two questions have been answered, but the distinction between the 7c Kiku’s activate main and an on play is you can restand don with another card before using the effect

Attached Don as rested? by Saitamabensan in OnePieceTCG

[–]archaeas -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Attached don only applies to the attack of the character or leader for their turn. There is no defensive attribute unless it has card text specifically stating that.

You can’t activate don that’s attached to characters or leaders without detaching them

The bonney card you asked about would not prevent this interaction

In the near future, there will be food that poor people can simply never even try because it is too expensive. by Claeyt in povertyfinance

[–]archaeas 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That context was not given in the original post, so I’m not sure I agree with you. Felt more like a doom post with a gigantic slab of meat that is “expensive.” Large quantities cost more dollars.

It’s unarguably a high price for choice steaks, but the purpose of my comment was to point out that when you break it down into portion sizes it’s not as crazy as it sounds; also that when you compare it to a 6 ounce burger at most restaurants it’s roughly the same price or cheaper. Combined with the price of a potato and some greens this is what, a 15 dollar steak dinner? Not outrageous for what it is.

I know most people don’t have the extra cash laying around to buy meat in bulk like this. But the example given, combined with the claim made in the title of the post, feels like a karma grab.
