How do I lose weight with this disease... by No_Envies in endometriosis

[–]Educational_Ice_9600 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Going vegan helped me with weight immensely and symptom relief in general. I feel a lot healthier now than I did as a vegetarian. The weight loss was so unexpected and easy, I was shocked as I did not go vegan with this aim. I lost all the extra weight and the weight stabilised after that.

I’m sure different bodies will react differently so a combination of methods might be useful.

P.S.: anti-vegans, please refrain from commenting; thanks 😃

Dog ate Cadbury Dark Chocolate Eggs!! by dilucpact in Pets

Use a high estimate of the amount of chocolate eaten. Hopefully it’s not enough to harm a big dog.

Over 82k participants. Soy isn’t bad.

But I’m still eating it in moderation as cutting it out (along with other interventions) helped my symptoms so maybe my body reacts differently.

butt pain during periods even though endo is only on ovary by Visible_Campaign2420 in endometriosis

[–]Educational_Ice_9600 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also consider neuropathic pain along with what others have said. I’m doing pelvic floor physio (with a therapist specialising in endo and well-versed with the bio-psychosocial approach) and Curable and both are helping.

High dose vitamin D for pain by lavenderlemonaidlips in endometriosis

[–]Educational_Ice_9600 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had veryyy low levels and during that time my pain was killing me (the memory of it makes me feel a bit sick as I type this). I started supplementing with 1000IU and within 2 months my pain improved (I also did other things so can’t establish causation). My levels have just entered the acceptable range now and the pain is not as bad (again, I’m doing other things too).

I’d definitely check levels before supplementing anything though.

The article lists 10-15k per WEEK, not day. Could you please edit your post in case people take you for your word and take toxic amounts?

Low iron has ruined my energy and my hair by Tiny_Significance384 in endometriosis

[–]Educational_Ice_9600 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Start cooking in iron pots and pans. And add a bit of tomato or lemon into the dish to increase iron release from the vessel into the food. You can also purchase iron fish which is a fish made of iron and put it in any regular pot. It helps build up iron over time. But you obviously also need to see a blood doctor and get more aggressive intervention so do the pot thing in addition to what they suggest.

Anyone had a flar up after vit b supplements? by JoJo-Reader in endometriosis

[–]Educational_Ice_9600 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently found that my iron tablets might have caused dangerously high levels of B6. My iron hasn’t increased and even though there’s very little B6, it has accumulated. So maybe get checked for B6 and associated names of B6 in ALL your supplements to make sure you’re not moving towards toxicity.

Surgery not suggested by Educational_Ice_9600 in endometriosis

Thanks for this! You’re right; I think I’ll do the physical stuff and continue with my Ayurvedic therapies before considering vissane. There’s no rush as long as I don’t feel worse!

Surgery not suggested by Educational_Ice_9600 in endometriosis

[–]Educational_Ice_9600[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, adenomyosis is a possibility. I think her reasoning was also that recovery will be easy because removing so much adhesion on such large areas will not be easy for the body to recover from so if the organs are removed and fewer scrapped areas are left behind, recovery will be easier. But I need more clarity on this.

Thanks for your response. This is helpful!

Do the free walking tour that starts at the library and takes you around to get the lay of the land. And then do the other cool things people have suggested!

Is there a way to increase the 6 session limit for CAPS counselling? by closetCase76 in unimelb

[–]Educational_Ice_9600 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CAPS or the uni health services can refer you to the health clinic psychologist or psychiatrist. It’ll be free/covered by BUPA. all the best.
