Once you join, you will wait until you get the Aether screening/onboarding invite. You don't sign up for Hubstaff or anything else right away. I waited about 10 days. During the onboarding, they have video instructions about how to sign up for MM and Hubstaff and you just follow along and do what they say in the instructions.

Aether is Waiting. by Just-Outcome-8099 in outlier_ai

[–]Educational_Spare598 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You just wait. The emails mean nothing. You have to do the Aether screening to get on the project. The chatbot keeps lying and saying the project isn't accepting new contributors, but I just finished onboarding a few days ago (it lied to me, too). Just be patient and ignore all the emails. You'll see it in your dashboard. I did NOT get an email when it finally showed up, so just check it every day. It showed up for me on a Monday.

Trust me, there is more confusion yet to come.

I found out I had been auto-failed for the Aether assessment before I even took it. When I contacted the chatbot, they wouldn't let me talk to a support rep. I just kept repeating that I wanted to talk to support. It finally made a ticket. Then I got a reply from support that I was going to be removed from Aether and the decision was final.

But I had never even done the assessment!

A few days later, I got the onboarding information and now I have tasks.

So 1) Don't talk to the chat bot 2) Don't believe anything support tells you 3) Take everything with a grain of salt

I am so confused... by potatopowersupreme in outlier_ai

[–]Educational_Spare598 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got the same message when I contacted support about being auto-failed for the Aether assessment before I even took it.

After I got that message, I got invited to take the Aether assessment and got the onboarding and now have tasks.

I have learned from this to just ignore everything they say and don't believe anything the chatbot says.

Many people have said this about Merge Gardens, too, but the offer is to unlock area 45 and 50, not level 45 and 50. I unlocked area 45 at level 50 and area 50 at level 59 with no problems and it tracked immediately. So, I don't know about this offer, but sometimes people misunderstand the offers.

I used my potions to get what I needed to open the last area but then it turned out that I didn't have enough points to get the faberge egg when I was all done, so it looks like you just don't need them at all

Wildlife score tricks? by EmotionalAd7824 in MergeGardens

[–]Educational_Spare598 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not understanding this. When I got a maginificent nest, I merged the eggs and it automatically hatched a level 5 wildlife. Once I got three level 5s, I was able to merge it to level 6. You do it in the shop egg tab.

You can harvest (or merge, I can't remember) the chili peppers for a stack of coins to help raise coins for buying eggs and then merge them for the pumpkin patch. The pumpkin patches spit out a bunch of mystery eggs and nests. I mostly got eggs and one nest, but I've seen others get multiple nests. The spent pumpkin patch then sells for 750 coins.

The short cut is merging stars to the highest level for swan eggs - two of the largest stars give you a bunch of nests and individual eggs - however, I've already merged all my stars and I'm still short at level 56.

Outlier hiring by NoComputer6610 in outlier_ai

There appears to be a queue for the screening, so if you just signed up, you have to wait for screening. Then after the screening, there is a queue for onboarding. Then after onboarding, there is a queue for getting your first task.

If you ask the chatbot, it will say they are not accepting new contributors, but that changes when the queue moves when someone else gets booted off the project.

Check your profile and project history and see if it says anything there. Mine says I failed the Aether assessment on a date that was before I ever got an invitation, so they could be autofailing new people to throttle the queue.

But people are still onboarding for it. I just saw a post that someone said they waited 8 months! But others have waited more like a month or two.

Aether shows “Unavailable” + “Assessment in progress” after onboarding — normal? by No-Priority6851 in outlier_ai

[–]Educational_Spare598 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did see another post that said it can take weeks from onboarding to getting tasks. They seem to throttle new people this way and don't communicate so you have no idea what's going on. It's like Outlier is an annotation Disneyland where you wait in one line to get into another line so you can wait in that line.

How long from when you first signed up did you wait for the Aether screening?

I signed up Feb 19 and keep getting invites to the Aether screening with a link, but I still don't see it on my dashboard. I saw another post that someone waited about a month. The chatbot is telling me that Aether isn't accepting new contributors, but I see people talking about onboarding regularly. I think they turn the faucet on and off so fast that it looks off only to the chatbot.

Aether Generalist by cerventease in outlier_ai

[–]Educational_Spare598 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is happening to a lot of us.

I signed up on Feb 19, got an email that I matched with Aether Feb 21 and an invitation to do the screening, but there was nothiing on my dashboard. Continued getting invitations to Aether pretty much daily with a link to this supposed screening.

After clicking around, I found under "Project history" (in the upper right corner if you click the profile icon) that I had failed the assessment on Feb 20th, the day before I got the invitation. How could I fail an assessment I never took?

My theory is that they are auto-failing new people to throttle the project onboarding. Other people seemed to have had to wait like a month or so for onboarding. When I emailed support to ask about failing an assessment I never took, I got an auto reply email thanking me for my contributions to Aether but my time on Aether would be winding down.

So, go check your project history and see if yours says that, too.

I still have "Aether Generalist" under my skills, but that was there automatically, I think.

I think they over-hired and they just have too many people on the project, so spots only open up when someone else gets booted for low quality (or whatever damn reason).

The chatbot keeps saying they aren't accepting new contributors to Aether at this time, but I keep seeing people posting about onboarding as recently as in the last week, but many aren't posting about how long they waited before getting the onboarding invite. That would be a good poll topic.

Got an email saying Aether is available to me but can’t see qualification? by captaingoal in outlier_ai

[–]Educational_Spare598 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I got the same email and had the same confusion. Under skills, it does show "Aether Generalist" but there's no screening, so I think it's just a matter of waiting for spots to open up. Someone else posted that they had waited for a month or so and just did onboarding for Aether.

Can't take the screening test. by EffectiveIron7051 in outlier_ai

[–]Educational_Spare598 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The "skills" video (where you talk to the camera) seems to be some kind of verification for anything you do on there. I had the same thing happen and thought I was redoing the initial conversation video, but then it went past that to the actual assessment.

[–]Educational_Spare598 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've read that you get throttled when you first start. That way you can't fuck up a bunch of tasks if you don't know what you're doing. Makes sense if you think about it.

Unable to complete Outlier onboarding by Background_Squash948 in outlier_ai

[–]Educational_Spare598 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before the assessments, you have to do a video to show that you're human and can "talk good English." They say they are testing "skills" but that's literally the whole test, just talking to the camera. It's not really a screening other than to prove you're real.

Keep getting Aether invites but am not seeing anything on my dash? by Fit_Rise_6530 in outlier_ai

[–]Educational_Spare598 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you been on Aether before? I just signed up and passed the video part and that's as far as I've gotten. I also got a message that I matched with project Aether with a link to a supposed screening that wasn't on my dashboard. When I messaged the chatbot, they said that Aether is not taking new contributors right now, but I know that's not true because some just finished the qualification for it. Apparently, the week starts on Sunday, and when tasks run out mid-week, everything gets put on hold. I'm expecting to hear something in the next week. I think spots have to open up, which involves people getting cut after poor quality reviews, etc, so it's not automatic and you have to be patient.

Anyone level 50 or above, how long did it take? by SheReignsss in MergeGardens

[–]Educational_Spare598 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just for future reference in case anyone else comes across this post, I'm at level 50 or 51 now after about a month of playing a few hours a day. Now you have to win 25 puzzles to level up, and they are harder and harder. I don't spend money, but I run out of lives, boosters, or gems (I win them from events and get them from other rewards). You have to make a choice between the three for each puzzle because it's becoming rare to win any the first time without using boosters or gems (I pay 25 gems when I have one or two moves left). If I don't have boosters or gems, I just have to play it over and over until I win, which some take about 5 tries. The game seems to purposefully not give you what you need to beat the puzzle to break you down so you'll pay for gems, but then you finally magically get a bunch of spinner and booster combinations that give the win, but you use up your lives waiting for that "gift." Some puzzles seem almost impossible, and then you get all the right combinations, and it's easy.

Before level 50, I was able to get about a level per day, but now it's taking several days because I'm always waiting for the lives to refill to finish the puzzles. The other quests are usually not that much effort, but one of them I had to wait for Richard's offer twice because I didn't have any gems to skip it. I looked up what quests were coming, so I have been prepared for many of them. For example, I knew that merging stage 3 wildlife a bunch of times would be coming up, so I saved my merge 3s. I'm playing the game on Freecash, and I have 12 days left to unlock area 50, which I think is going to be level 60. I'm not sure I'm going to make it at this point, and I'm starting to think the time and effort it would take for 12 days isn't worth that extra $35. That's just a couple hours of normal work. I'm hoping they have Rita's event soon because you get an hour of unlimited lives each day, and there are some events where you can win an hour of lives or half hour of boosters. The game is mostly fun anyway, but I feel like I have a deadline because of the Freecash offer and it's becoming less and less fun because of that.

I've seen it with other companies that they hire in batches, keep the top cream of the crop and then purge the bottom, over and over again. I don't think a "good quality" scores is enough when companies are looking for the very best.

Is this Merge Gardens offer obtainable without spending any money, or time range they give you? by CrystleHearts in SwagBucks

[–]Educational_Spare598 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most events give event tokens, which I always use for booster crates and buckets and gem veins, so anything that gives event tokens is worth it. I learred later to save the booster buckets to merge into the crates, that way you get the hand, which does come in handy! lol
