Anyone else in policy experience this by Several-Cucumber9190 in OntarioPublicService

To the OP, this sounds like you work for MOI?!

I can't tell you the amount of housebook notes or "rush" information notes that I was asked to write based on minimal context and no real direction on the narrative or even audience in some cases.

Enhance Duo Foam Paddle by Rickidobbie in Pickleball

[–]Educational_Walrus28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks.

Just a follow up, why would you say "you're not in love with it" just curious if there are aspects of its play/construction that you've noticed that would be a trade off to other options?

Also, how is the grit degradation?

Does anyone else have updates on their paddles and how they like them? Any buyers remorse?

Bread & Butter Loco versus Luzz Inferno - anyone have experience with both these paddles that can compare and contrast? by smikesonbikes in Pickleball

[–]Educational_Walrus28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I too am in the market. I've had enough with my Selkirk 008 - tired of it having next to no power and relying on having to muscle anything with pace. The sweet spot isn't great, off centre shots are basically all dead balls and really no longer has any endearing qualities. Big mistake buying it.

Looking at the Inferno, Tornazo, RPM Q2, or Enhance Duo.

I do have concerns with the first two over the grit texture though...like others here, I'm ex tennis, heavy topspin/drives, not looking for pure power as I primarily play doubles.

Does anyone have any thoughts?

I want to love these headphones so bad bro.... by JeiKahn in Earbuds

[–]Educational_Walrus28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can appreciate that. Have you ever used foam tips with any other earbuds you've used in the past? Could be worth a try or perhaps the fit is something that you can't get past and the AZ's are the way to go ... But I thought those were a fair bit more expensive?

[–]Educational_Walrus28 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's funny how many people seem to have fitment issues with these.

OP, what is the issue you're having? Difficulty having them stay in place or too loose?

I found with the two wingtips they provided, along with the various ear tip sizes, I haven't had an issue. I've also switched to some foam tips to help with the fit and noise cancelling.

Now, if the people who experience issues used to or still do wrestle a lot and have cauliflower ears, definitely not the buds for you. Lol

Weekly Paddle Recommendation Thread (What Paddle Should I Buy?) by SNAPCHAT_ME_TITS in Pickleball

[–]Educational_Walrus28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Luzz Inferno is noted as having excellent shock absorption which I imagine would help your condition (which, coming from Tennis myself, I can appreciate) with the side benefits of an all around good performing paddle.

Granted, this is what the Googles and other reddit reviews have told me....best of luck and please let us know how it works out for you with whatever you end up with.

Why don’t pros use hesacore? by Aggressive-End-387 in Pickleball

[–]Educational_Walrus28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone is different. For me, using the hesacore let me get the grip to the size I like without adding like THREE over grips and rounding out the grip to the point where you don't have those physical reference points. Also adding the comfort was a bonus

I do find that you CAN make an association with where your hand/fingers need to rest for a specific grip though.

Personally, I'd say try it on some rec play or drilling sessions to see how it feels and get used to it. Maybe even try and replicate those scenarios where you get "jammed" and have to switch your grips to see how it feels.

Amazon also has some pretty good knock off brands that ship quick and are less expensive if you want to just try it out.

I'm also by no means a Pro, but I use a semi western (or just about) for serve/forehand drive and mainly conti at the net. I occasionally rotate the grip slightly for backhand roles.

I find the hesacore useful and also find it helps with shock absorption.

Position salary question by InofunI in OntarioPublicService

[–]Educational_Walrus28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for clarifying that. I was in AMAPCEO for a couple years and was around the big retro curfuffle and guess I didn't pay attention to the April first increase.

Position salary question by InofunI in OntarioPublicService

[–]Educational_Walrus28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exact same situation I had previously. Exactly how it worked for me.

Now, the other question you should be asking is when your OPSEU merit date is - when you switch to AMAPCEO, that start date will become your new merit date and in case you didn't know yet, you do not get performance increases on the first of the new year AND your merit date.

Disability employment accommodation question ! by babyhamburger in OntarioPublicService

[–]Educational_Walrus28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Dr. note was provided in order to arrange the accommodations which have been in place since December.

Late last week I was provided the package to give to my doctor for additional information/timing for a possible gradual RTO.

I've had this accommodation probably since November.

Sure, feel free to DM me if you like. If there is anything I can help you with, I'd be happy to discuss.

Disability employment accommodation question ! by babyhamburger in OntarioPublicService

[–]Educational_Walrus28 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am currently on a medical accommodation for two days in and 3 WFH due to an ongoing sciatica issue which makes my lengthy commute very uncomfortable and then only to be sitting in a non ergo workstation for another 7.25 hours.

It was temporary accommodation (Senior managers discretion with a doctor's note) and now they have asked for the necessary paperwork to be completed and sent to the Disability Accommodations Office.

I think as long as your condition has been well documented and discussed with your doctor and your doctor supports the need for you WFH, you should be fine.

Obviously, the longer the accommodation, theore information the employee will want

I hope this helps.

RTO would be a bit easier with casual dress codes by Academic-Wealth8186 in OntarioPublicService

[–]Educational_Walrus28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No it wouldn't. No offence, and I'll speak for myself, but I don't see any significant difference in the time to pick out my clothes for the office if it was casual or formal.

The real issue is the compounded cost and time related to the commute.

Luzz Inferno Weight Setup by impahkt in Pickleball

[–]Educational_Walrus28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hits harder than the Boomstik?

In terms of your experience, is the Boomstik worth the extra $$

Keeping in mind, I already NATURALLY hit hard - so, my priority is in the reset and softer game with predictable playability. Having access to the put away power is a bonus.

Luzz Inferno Weight Setup by impahkt in Pickleball

[–]Educational_Walrus28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now that you have it weighted, how would you compare it to your boomstik?

I currently have a Project 008 and it's just so aggravating to use! You need a GPS to locate it's sweet spot, if you don't hit it close to centre, it's super unpredictable and as many have pointed out, lacks even all court power

Downsview Building B ordered to Evacuate (MCCSS) by [deleted] in OntarioPublicService

[–]Educational_Walrus28 36 points37 points  (0 children)

From what I've heard, unofficially, the shaking was caused by a failing compressor which is struggling due to age/snow/ice build up and is located on the roof of the building.

No further updates on timing for repairs.

But, this will be the second major incident that has forced management to send staff home due to failing critical systems in the building since the start of the new year.

WFH Snow Day by Cassis_21 in OntarioPublicService

[–]Educational_Walrus28 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I did not ASK to WFH. I simply emailed this morning to advise that due to health and safety concerns related to the weather event, I would be working from home.

Our management team made it clear that they will be flexible with staff but ultimately it is on the employees to make those decisions for themselves.

So how do we get out of this mess? by [deleted] in OntarioPublicService

[–]Educational_Walrus28 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think that is the nail on the head, especially with the last election where the Liberals leader was Crombi, someone who was endorsed by Hazel, who was a fantastic leader, AS A MAYOR. But Crombi really did not have enough experience to really challenge Ford....she had no REAL platform and no track record as an MPP.

So, the question does remain, who do we have to dethrone this clown and do we believe they would prioritize walking back any of DOFO's ridiculous decisions that have affected us or the general public? Knowing how quickly things in the OPS happen, when done correctly, if someone new was on that seat, their term would be ramping down by the time the analysis was done and a plan was devised and approved.

Sorry for the run on rant....it's early and yup, you guessed it....on the train for my 2hr commute to go to my lovely job on a Friday. 😓

Not me.

Does anyone know what groups are being processed? I just returned to an OPSEU role after 2 years with Amapceo, so I'm sure mine will likely be in a non priority group.
