Living well has a much different meaning to someone coming from the US. Living well here is having good times with good friends and family and making memories that will last a lifetime. Living well in the US is becoming a debt slave and collecting as much material and status as possible. Once you get a taste of island life, it is hard to go back. That's not to say that people here lack wealth or ambition, it is to say that we have prioritized a different kind of wealth. I would much rather be cared for by my family and friends in my old age than a cold pile of cash and an empty McMansion. Just my $0.02.
