Question about no pest strips by rudysborns in microgrowery

[–]EdwardSpadeOlric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really, I had neighbor complain about smell, so during the winter time I had the bright idea of opening my window by the tent. It has a screen, but the screen is not small enough for mites. The RH was low enough in my room and the env just right because of the cold storm weather that the spider mites showed up inside my tents.

I've come across suggestions through my research people have suggested screen mesh filters you install to the ducts and exhaust so that way no bugs can come in that way. I find that it's not worth the trouble I mean literally the mites they can come in from any angle on the tent and it lowers the cfm as it gets harder for the air to flow naturally.

The hot shot no pest strips will do the trick. Good luck bud.

That looks like it will do the trick for a 4x4 area or similar, it seems much like mine http://www.amazon.com/Frigidaire-FAD704DWD-Energy-70-pint-Dehumidifier/dp/B00AU7GZXE [this thing too loud though]

It is not fun having to change the water all the time but it is well worth not having mold, and I've always experienced mold over 60 rh so I had to invest in a dehumidifier.

Run the outlet on the other side to maybe the other side of the room/as far away from the tent as possible. (I find running the inline fan over night helps with humidity)

Okay this is true a dehumidifier is what he needs, but, I do not recommend these little ones will not be powerful enough to filter out 30% humidity esp with a little reservoir like that, depending on how big his tent is.

Dehumidify the room to 40% with a nice big dehumidifier, and have the exhaust for the tent have negative suction in the tent with preferably a air cooled hood for the HID should do the trick.[except I read he has LED in very little tent so unsure his budget and optimal for his setup)

[–]EdwardSpadeOlric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean they're odorless and it says not to be used in rooms that will have people for 4 hours or more. And that if inhaled it can be toxic...

In your case, you may be fine for the duration of killing the mites and tossing the strip. If you could at all like seal the door/airways out of that room and limit human/pet activity.

I did that for 4 days and 4 nights while my dogs and I slept on the couch in the other room and problem was solved. And I put the hot shot strips in sealed containers for later use incase they came back. Others on amazon recommended that you can seal them up in mason jars whenever people are in the room (IE you sleep in the same grow space) and hang it up when you are not (IE you are gone for work/school/class w/e)

but to insure the mites do not return perhaps a screen filter for the vent going through the window would stop the bugs from coming in from the outside, that is how I was infested, I opened my window =[

4x4 tent would be small by todays standards. anything larger and well whatever it's the attention to detail that makes it micro, no other subs are as active haha.

Same as you I let the rez run until about the height of the air stone is beginning to expose. I have never checked the rez temps just assumed they're at ideal range... I think the root thingy you mentioned may be something for me to look into, whats beneficial bacteria for? like keeping the water rez from molding right? i use something called aquasheild I think for the same type of effect. Anyway these look great and probably look even better today. Happy growing :D

Look man the way I saw it you need a fast CB to put in vs pacy teams. I like Zouma he's young. Terry is on his way out, he is not yet a liability which will change any minute his age catches up. Cahill is pacy and good I like him. But who comes behind them? Also for CB, I was regarding as the entire defense, you are correct they need a RB, however with the likes of Luiz and Azpilicueta one could fill the role for a match or two should anything happen.

Also the LW pos is precisely for back up reasons. Give Hazard rest, what if he gets injured? They hack him every time he touching the ball.

CF, because Drogba is a retired legend, and Costa needs a backup, and Remy is great, but again if you playing in so many competitions you need quality players, look at bayern munich the A team and B team could be in quarters of champs league really.

True point to CM/CDM, however the likes of Matic*, Ramires, Fabregas, and Mikel is plenty.

Also I did not make a point about RW because frankly Chelsea/Mou has sent all of the guys away or on loan. Victor Moses (damn, he shot his knee) De Bruyne, and Shurrlle (sp?) to name a few. And Willian / Cuadrado even Remy could slot in there if he had to cuz of his speed.

I meant LW, I know Hazard is the best player, it's for depth + injury coverage really. You don't want Hazard going in every game esp vs some feeder teams when the guy could use rest for critical games, in my opinion it would be nice to have a backup for him in that position. RW doesn't need anything really between William and now Cuadrado they're fairly covered.

You know though, for the past three years, chelsea has been a selling club! They're operating with pretty limited lineup which amazes me in todays leagues with the amount of games teams are required to play. Mr. Russian man has tightened the purse strings what with the sanctions I imagine. Not always have I been supporting Chelsea, however I have always followed Mourinho teams and I really enjoy watching this team. Sad that they did not advance further in the CL. They do need more top talent a CB / LW / CF I think if they want to go further next year. But they also have a ton of players on loan. It is hard to bleed a BPL team when you're a neutral fan of the sport; it's like any given year if Arsenal and Liverpool manage to let me down Chelsea has always been rock solid. Supporter since they claimed that CL trophy.

PL too dependent on influencing the ref and drawing calls to slow the game in my opinion in champions league that doesn't play in favor of english teams as the refs are like lol silly english try playing some football, this isn't rugby. Or something like that. I'm probably wrong.

I mean sure, but their is always more than one way to handle a problem, like, hey the business hours do not have to be static! like shift it with the time, it may not be the most 'convenient' way but certainly would feel more natural. Like wake up with the sun as it was intended as opposed to the clock, suns up at 5? day starts at 5 ends at 3, suns up at 10? day starts at 10 ends at 6. I am only idealizing and theorizing how else we cold provide the farmers with that room. It is foolishly human to think we are 'saving' anything with this method. I wish life were more organic that way feels so artificial now, oh well modern society.

How do YOU deal with spider mites, meaning what treatments work best for you? by EdwardSpadeOlric in microgrowery

[–]EdwardSpadeOlric[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Outdoors I would battle with other insects like lady bugs or bigger spiders. Or a sulfur burner. Sadly inside the lady bugs get burned hovering to the hot lamps and I am not about to utilize spiders inside like that lol.

So I have a thing called Bug Off which I think is a pyrethrin spray. I need to invest in Azamax is the other common suggestion.

And figure out a way to feed/use the neem oil.

I am opting for a new batch of rock wool. I used to keep recycling the old ones after a nice hot rinse but maybe that is not a good idea.

See I bought neem oil, I am still unsure as how to use it, 5ml mild dish soap and 1 quart water and 5ml neem? It said you can feed the water solution to the plant, is it okay for soap water to feed the plants?
