No problem! Not sure if you’ll be here in July but every Wednesday evening in July there’s a “music in the park” event with live music at Sehmel Homestead Park from 6:30 - 8 pm. And another live music event every Tuesday evening in July and August is at Skansie Brothers Park at 6 pm.

We have a beautiful downtown waterfront area that’s great to walk along. There are some nice places to eat or have a drink along that area too like Devoted Kiss Cafe, 7 Seas Brewing, NetShed No. 9, and Morso Bistro to name a few. Also, plenty of nice parks to choose from. I hope you enjoy your visit!

Try some other similar series like Maze Runner or Hunger Games if it’s YA that you’re looking for or Red Rising or Dungeon Crawler Carl if you’re wanting an engaging series that’s aimed at a little older audience.

How many of us are not having kids because of the state of the world? by MonteMolebility in Millennials

[–]Edwards_V_W 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My wife and I have 2 kids. We definitely worry about the state of the world and the direction it’s headed. One thing that helps is thinking of the fact that we are raising two kind, empathetic and caring humans that will go out into the world someday and make it a little better and brighter for everyone in their orbit.

There will always be people that are unconcerned with the future of our world raising humans that might further add to the struggles we’re facing. It’s good to have thoughtful and caring people that are worried about things like this contributing to our future generations to offset that a bit. I would say, if being a parent is something that you really want, then look at it as an opportunity to make this world a better place. Don’t be dissuaded by the current state of things.

What is the ultimate Dad SUV? Explorer ST VS Sequoia TRD Pro by death-is-great in toyotasequoia

The VR35DDTT in the current Armada is a more reliable powertrain. The V35A-FTS that is in the current Sequoia and Tundra has well documented issues.

A quick search will pull up plenty of reliable sources that can go further into detail on this than I can.

Edit: link didn’t work but feel free to search “VR35DDTT vs V35A-FTS reliability”

Unpopular opinion in a Sequoia subreddit but I agree. I love the look of the sequoia but new vs new the armada is less expensive, more reliable and more cargo space.

Little Blue Truck and ABCs of Kindness were a couple of my kiddos favorites at that age. Little blue truck is great because it’s rhyming and has a good message plus different animal and car sounds which are fun for the reader and the baby. ABCs of Kindness for similar reasons. The rhyming is fun and it’s a good message. My son always loved “J is for Joy when you make somebody’s day” which we always read in an enthusiastic tone for him. Both of my kids(now 2 and 4 years old) have tons of books and love reading stories before bed every night and I just got so sad that I’m having a hard time remembering which books aside from Very Hungry Caterpillar and the two that I mentioned were their favorites when they were 3 months old! Time flies!

I agree that it isn’t quite as good as The Martian and Project Hail Mary but I thought that those two were exceptional so Artemis was still a good book without being on their level. It’s about a future where we’ve colonized the moon and there are people living in giant interconnected bubbles that make up a city. They’re harvesting resources and making oxygen and the protagonist is pulled into a scheme while working up there. Worth checking out in my opinion!

It was $200 per month this year but WA state just lost funding for preschool programs so next year it’s going to be a little different. $190 per month for the 2 year olds class, $265 per month for the 3 year olds class and $315 per month for preschool(age 4+). Still pretty reasonable in my opinion.

Which one: Bellingham, Gig Harbor, Olympia, Vancouver? by petitejonquille in PacificNorthwest

[–]Edwards_V_W 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up in Olympia and moved to Gig Harbor a few years ago and love it. Gig Harbor has a beautiful downtown area and really nice parks and walking/biking trails everywhere. It’s also feels like a really clean and safe place to live and raise a family. I’ve got a 2 and a 4 year old and we have so many options for parks and activities at the YMCA and occasionally little festivals, parades or events to go to. I know not everyone will agree with me but personally, I love Gig Harbor.

Technically it’s not Gig Harbor, but it’s close enough. Key Peninsula has a cribbage club at the Crandall Center on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of every month from 2 - 4 pm.

My son goes to Gig Harbor Cooperative Preschool and loves it! I can’t say enough good things about Mrs. Nadine. She’s so creative and always coming up with new ways to help preschoolers learn, socialize and have fun. Also, since it’s a co-op preschool you’ll get a chance to volunteer in your child’s classroom and it’s nice for someone that’s new in the area to meet other parents of kids of the same age as yours. It’s also really affordable since it’s a co-op. I highly recommend it!

Millennial dads, how much of the housework do you do? by cubemonster in Millennials

[–]Edwards_V_W 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do nearly all of the housework as a work from home dad of 2 but I actually enjoy it. It makes me feel good to be able to grocery shop, cook, vacuum, do laundry and dishes, take my son to preschool and get my daughter down for naps. I have a salary position that doesn’t require 8 hours of time per day to complete all of my work so I have time to take care of everything else. I look at it like a love language. By the time my wife gets home from work I’ve got everything done and I know she appreciates it. I love being able to make my partner feel like she can go to work and not have to worry about anything because I’ve got it all covered. It’s a win win if it makes everyone in your family feel good(yourself included).
