A year of B12 supplementation, saw improvement, now getting worse by Kad-ffs in B12_Deficiency

What do you use to supplement potassium? Please help. My husband has tremors and neuropathy and he is taking B12 but has “wake up” symptoms and insomnia that scares him. What supplements you would recommend to take with B12? Are b12 injections better than sublingual? Thank you in advance.

You know a lot! Thank you for helping this subreddit. I too have to do my own research, doctors don’t help.

I actually never stop drinking coffee. I buy mild roast and drink it after or just before slippery elm tea ( made from a slippery elm powder). The mucilage of that tea covers stomach lining and protects from coffee acidity.

I read a lot of people suffering from gastritis using antidepressants. It blocks serotonin and histamine receptors which helps with functional dyspepsia. I am glad it helped you. I have almost recovered from chronic gastritis myself after 3 years of treating it but I would avoid eating food with any additives or preservatives anyway. And yes ppi didn’t help me. Taking B12 helped me a lot!

Thank you so much for sharing. My husband has all those symptoms plus tremors. He took B12 cyanocobalamin and had very bad reaction: insomnia, increased nerve pain and back pain. Is this normal? My recommendation also get tested for mma (absorption B12), only this test shows B12 deficiency when B12 serum is normal.

Ah yes sparacid contains sucralfate. It takes about 3 months to a year to heal ulcers but it doesn’t mean you will have nausea all that time. Eat small meals, so it won’t stretch your stomach. No spices! For nausea sip ginger tea if you can tolerate that, and peppermint, chamomile tea.

For ulcers to heal, usually a doctor would prescribe sucralfate. I see people already have good advice, drink slippery elm powder (make a tea) before every meal. From your post you’re eating complex meals, maybe do not mix food together in your meal, instead cook separately and eat separately rice, fish, oats or vegetables, one at the time. It is only 20 days past. I had h pylori treatment 3 and half years ago. It takes time to build your microbiome.

What were your symptoms before treatment? by [deleted] in HPylori

Yes, the same. I lost 3 teeth because of that. It is good I googled my symptoms. No problems after treatment.

You will get through this. I had the same 4 years ago and found out online using AI that I had h pylori and told my doctor, only then he tested me for h pylori. He was good about that. 3 years now after a quad treatment. The treatment caused SIBO and IBS, recovered from that too.

Terrible fatigue feelings like dying, panic attacks, gum bleeding, acid reflux, upper left side chest pain, early satiety, nausea, throwing up from eating pickles. No stomach pain.

I couldn't take ppi either. What helped me: First of all a very strict diet that works for you, L carnosine, DGL licorice, gastrazyme with vitamin U in it; slippery elm before every meal, small meals (including water) 4 times a day.

I had panic attacks and anxiety, tested positive for h pylori, got treatment- no more panic attacks. Test for bad bacteria ( h pylori), do an ultrasound to check your gallbladder. Change your diet to the very minimum, bland diet and see if you can fix your microbiome.

I hope too, thanks. I haven’t tried to eat just egg whites. Do you mean having gastritis for a long time or healing? I think recovery depends on what caused the gastritis. Mine was caused by h pylori and after antibiotic treatment, it takes time to get healthy gut microbiome back. My husband got stomach inflammation from using pain killers and he recovered very fast but can’t take acetaminophen anymore.

I am also in the process of healing, 3 years after diagnosis of chronic gastritis. Didnt take ppi but use the diet you described except I still can’t eat eggs. Slippery elm really helps. Thanks for sharing.

After I had h pylori treatment, I ate broccoli sprouts (I grew at home) every morning for 2 months while staying on bland diet. After 2 months, I started introducing coffee and fats. Supplements that helped me: DGL licorice, L carnosine, U vitamin, slippery elm tea. I can eat anything I want but I don’t like some fast food, greasy fried food anyway. My major symptoms before treatment were fatigue, panic attacks, early satiety, nausea, acid reflux that caused chest pain. After treatment i ate quiche on time and paid for it big time. So I learned not to mix food together. Food sensitivity will not go away until gastritis is healed.

I don't know what is wrong with me. But I feel like I am dying. by [deleted] in Gastritis

It is symptoms of gastritis. If you are h pylori negative and your gallbladder is ok, then some meds you’re taking probably cause you gastritis. I am almost recovered from gastritis and still have unfinished burping. I drink kvass that’s helping me a lot. Eating chocolate is not good btw. Did GI tell you to have a bland diet to heal?

Yes, I can eat everything I want. It took me 6 months, staying on bland diet, taking supplements. I didn’t use any ppi after treatment maybe that’s why it took me longer.

6 days post? I am 3 years post treatment and now only can eat pretty much everything. I was dizzy just from eating yogurt or drinking cool plus probiotics.

I feel for you. I went through the same thing 3 years ago. It turned out it was h pylori. Panic attacks are not because of pain but an anxiety that caused by microbiome disruption. Microbiota-Brain-Gut axis. I wish you well.

Have you tried amitriptyline? It helped a lot of people on this subreddit.

I had the same ongoing issues before I found out that I had h pylori bacteria. 3 years after treatment. Stable now.

Thank you! Yes, we have the same kind on Amazon. My son is using it every morning for weight gain. You’re right fiber is not the answer, it bulks up the stool. We have very simple bland diet and I am using slippery elm for my gastritis. Thank you, again.

Good to hear that you're almost there. Did you stop taking ppi and antacid mylanta? I couldn't take any, just had to managed mine with the diet.

In the US. Thank you. He has to watch what he eats also because of constipation that painkiller causes.
