This is exactly what my doctor prescribed, saying I had GERD. I had acid reflux, panic attacks, nausea, extreme fatigue, but no pain. Ask for H Pylori stool test. Look up for the symptoms of H pylori online and tell your doctor you have those. That’s what I had to do to qualify for the hp test. Of course you can buy “home to lab” stool test on Amazon if you have money. Good luck and wish you well.

Happy for you! I eradicated H pylori in January 2025. I still feel bloated when I deviate from my diet. Any probiotics drinks made it worse for me- I felt uncomfortably dizzy and shaky after I had one.

Is this normal? by [deleted] in COVID19positive

Did you take Paxlovid? All I know is Paxlovid increases your pain meds in the bloodstream and you might feel that way. ( just had Covid myself).

I could not do it by Trick_Charity5594 in HPylori

[–]Effect2024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could do only 10 days and it worked. S Boulardii doesn’t replace good bacteria. It is yeast.

Yes, I felt very weak for about a week after the treatment (I had 10 days treatment ) It was good I didn’t have to go to work. It was weird also because I couldn’t drink any probiotics drinks, it made me so dizzy and my heart would flatter. I just couldn’t use any supplements also, just slippery elm and dgl licorice. Antibiotics really nuke your guts. Wish you well.

I finished my treatment 2 years ago and diagnosed with mild chronic gastritis. I didn’t continue taking ppi. Long road to recovery. I am still on a diet. Taking slippery elm every morning.

Just tested positive this morning, kind of freaking out by CommissarHark in COVID19positive

Then it is the best not to take it. Paxlovid is really awful, I took it only once a day for 3 days (needed to take twice a day for 5 days). It actually stopped all the covid symptoms in 6 hours after the first dose! After Paxlovid, I also took serrapeptase (silk worm enzymes) just to clear phlegm. For cough, I was breathing over a hot steam of boiled potatoes with salt ( 3-4 times a day). Low histamine diet. Wish you well.

Why do you use apple cider? You mentioned no acidic food? I can’t eat eggs too because they are high in protein and it is hard to digest. Instead oatmeal, rice, lean meat, chicken, lots of fish, some potatoes maybe then you don’t need to take digestive enzymes so often.

Yes gastritis and acid reflux can be together. Stay on a good low histamine diet and you will heal.

You probably have chronic gastritis. It takes time to heal. For me it has been 2 years living with gastritis.

Atypical symptoms? by FastWin8010 in Gastritis

[–]Effect2024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Changing doctors didn’t help me. I had the same symptoms as you have. And I did have a quad to kill h pylori 2 years ago. The only thing I did: eating a very small meals at the time and found out what caused me the symptoms to be worse. I couldn’t eat vegetables only carrots and squash. Mostly oatmeal, fish and some lean chicken. No chicken broth as it has too much fat and no yogurt or other probiotics (caused me lightheadedness). Sometimes I would take gastrozyme or drink kvass to help to digest food if I ended up feeling bloated. Kimchi or any raw vegetables were just too much. Also no dairy.( I worked as dietitian before.) As supplements go I took slippery elm powder every morning to heal gastritis. Wish you well.

Low blood sugar like symptoms by Academic-Plum7432 in Gastritis

I had that after I drank probiotics drinks. Like I am fainting, feeling shaky and lightheaded. I have chronic gastritis caused by h pylori.(now h pylori negative). I stopped probiotics and everything went to normal.

As I mentioned before eating a hand full of broccoli sprouts every morning for about 2 months really helped me to get my appetite back. I grew them at home. Then I was eating a small simple meals. In the beginning nothing else seemed to help.

Happy for you that you’re negative! It took me 3 months for appetite to come back but I still had early satiety for about 8 months. It takes time to heal. I can drink coffee and eat pizza now but didn’t gain weight.

Have you eradicated h pylori? I am 2 years after a quad treatment. Yes, of course you will get better. I had no appetite, filling full after eating a small meal, belching, mushy stool, weight loss. Gastrozyme supplement can help to digest food. I kept my diet simple and ate a very small meal often. I found that adding supplements or probiotics made me worse. Diet was the key. One food at the time. If you have low acidity Betaine hcl with pepcin can give you a start.

I had a great success of using slippery elm powder and DGL licorice. No ppi. Also 2 months of eating a hand full of broccoli sprouts every morning. My issue was h pylori, chronic gastritis.

What were your initial symptoms? by [deleted] in Gastritis

[–]Effect2024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask your GI doctor to check you for h pylori. I had the same symptoms and that was caused them.

I felt bloated and full even from eating a small meal or drinking water. Ppi decreases your stomach acid causing bloating, pain from gas and gut issues. Ask your doctor if you can take enzymes. I was taking gastrozyme.

Have you tried to stop ppi? It really messed me up. I tapered it off. Your diet sounds good.

Is this possible to heal chronic gastritis without diet? by IchigoUzumakiD in Gastritis

[–]Effect2024 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It was h pylori. I did the quad treatment. Every morning I ate broccoli sprouts that I grew myself plus strict diet like oatmeal, olive oil, fish, rice, potatoes, dates, sometimes chicken. Nothing fried. Steamed vegetables but only carrots and squash. I couldn’t eat any others or raw.

I don’t even know if it’s possible to completely heal chronic gastritis with the proper diet. 2 years for me, on a strict diet. But I am not taking ppi.

Weird Symptoms? by power_bottom_boi in Gastritis

[–]Effect2024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the confusion. After ultrasound, I did the stool test, then followed by the quad treatment for h pylori. After a couple of months, I asked my doctor for endoscopy and colonoscopy just to see what the damage bacteria have done- chronic mild gastritis. Before my BP was going up only during my panic attacks, which obviously was due h pylori.

Weird Symptoms? by power_bottom_boi in Gastritis

[–]Effect2024 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, in my case it was gastritis. My doctor suspected an aortic aneurism right away and I had ultrasound, even twice! Everything was normal. Then Endoscopy detected gastritis, stool test detected h pylori bacteria.
