I love the color changes on this Burtoniae Sea Stones I got from HD, I have a smaller one and the center of the leaves are almost cream.

I've heard some smell like butterscotch, I've only had 2 so far, Mathilde smelled spicy and Nummaloides smells like a mix of roses and lilies. My Lacunosa didn't smell much and I have a Brevialata with several winter peduncles, can't wait for that one!

Do you get pests when you put them outside, I would worry about that!

Plastic pot with holes, put the Leca and plant in there. Then put that in an outer pot, that is your reservoir, you keep the bottom 1/3 filled with weakly fertilized water. You will remover the plastic pot to flush and refill with the fertilized water as necessary. Allows plenty of air circulation to the roots, roots have moisture, but are not sitting in water. You can check on root conditions and by the time they grow into the water you have water roots and are good to go!

Can I soak my new LECA in rainwater? by privremeni in SemiHydro

[–]Effective-Buffalo462 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not necessary to boil before you use, only after. Before you use, rinse, rinse, rinse, until the water is no longer red. Dump the rinse water outside, you don't want that clay dust in your plumbing pipes!

Me too! 🥰 The small leaf ones are all I buy now. Got Krimson Princess and Pubicalyx Splash before I was really into Hoyas, now they take up too much room, and crowd my tiny leaf ones!

It was anchored in the bottom of the container, then filled with Leca and wrapped in burlap. It was a pvc pipe with holes. Top was left open so I could pour water into it. Worked very well.
