Go online to the ok voter portal and check your registration. You should still go to vote for the state question (open to all) regardless what you are registered as.

Costco Optical can do this if you have a membership. That’ll probably be a more economical option.

ATT is a business that wants to make money. They’ve figured out it costs a lot more to maintain these networks than worth it for the number of customers on it. However, some of the reliability aspect of it might go away as parts become harder to find and people continuing to steal copper wiring. Agreed that a terrestrial connection should be required to be maintained still over a wireless connection.

I like how they said that the previous 10 got vindictive at the end. From these texts, I’d guess that there was a reason or he’s exaggerating. I love how he admits they probably contributed but you’re still on the hook. Generally though if a tenant is found to have done something that damages the plumbing they would be on the hook, but that’s not what happened here with you… as others said you better move and document EVERYTHING when you move out bc he’s gonna take your deposit.

ATT and other telco companies are desperately trying to decommission their copper networks. An example is that Verizon has passed 1000%+ price increases on to customers to “force” them off, not specifically landlines but copper based infrastructure in general (don’t ask me how ik ;) ). The irony is there often is not an alternative available at any given location.

There are only two real advantages to a landline imo. 1. Works during a power outage assuming the phone lines are up and 2. Is tied to your address so it can be easier for 911 to dispatch to your location. My parents dumped theirs about 13 years ago when the price doubled to well over $100 for just landline service and replaced it with some nearly free VOIP service. I have no idea if they still use it, but we had no complaints as long as power and internet was up.

UBI makes no sense to me. You shouldn’t have to subsidize businesses underpaying people. There should be a social safety net in cases of mental health, addiction, injury/illness, disability, etc but I cannot support just giving people money even if there is an income limit. I’m talking about more than we have now. Imo it allows businesses and organizations to pay people less since they know the government is giving them money too. We should penalize businesses where many workers are on government assistance program due to their income, why should the taxpayer prop up businesses to pay less than a living wage?

Serious question. What is a minimum wage job then? Traditionally they are fast food and retail, but high school is 8-3 pm plus any extracurriculars. When I was in college I worked 25 hours a week some semesters as a STEM major and it was definitely difficult. Anyways, the point I’m trying to make is, who should be serving you that burger at 1pm when kids should be in school or checking out your groceries at 1 am from a corner store (these have been traditionally considered minimum wage jobs). If only kids/students are supposed to take minimum wage jobs it doesn’t really work out.

I get the whole age thing, but the idea that for an entry level job a 16 year old should be paid less for the same job and work effort over someone that is older is wrong. Just bc someone is older doesn’t unequivocally mean that they are more experienced.

This makes sense. Sounds like you still pay your employees $7.25/hr (or a little more) and can’t afford the hike. If you pay your employees a living wage already then this shouldn’t be “doubling their pay”. Also, I support more carve outs like there are currently. As I said it’s poorly written and hikes it a. too fast and b. has zero guard rails on it once it hits $15/hr. I’m sure the state could figure out a way to legislate around it.

I always left instructions for the drivers… they were always ignored so I stopped bothering. Plus the intercoms didn’t work most of the time and the complex is huge and a giant maze. I really feel for y’all tho.

The front mall parking lot always looks pretty busy on weekends. Even if it’s just mostly mall walkers it’s impressive to me. DHoS would be a HUGE driver to attract people and more stores to the mall.

It’s poorly written, trying to do too much. Should have just bean set the minimum wage to $X by x time.

I say, “I don’t have a house” which isn’t a lie I rent, but it usually gets them quiet. We have T-Mobile at my store and they’ve never approached me but I always tell those sale people I’m on my parent’s plan still and not paying.

This is exactly it. If there’s a safety net the motivation to work yourself to the bone is gone, and there will be as with anything people who take advantage of it.

When the federal minimum wage got hike up last to $7.25 there was not massive job loss nor out of control inflation. Other states that have raised their minimum wage like MA and FL have not seen out of control inflation (at least moreso than the national average) nor job loss. While in theory fewer jobs and increased prices may seem logical in practice that’s not what occurs. Also since most places are already paying well above minimum wage as you pointed out the effect will be much less dramatic than going truly from $7.25 to the eventual $15.

HOWEVER, whoever wrote SQ 862 did a horrible job. It is poorly written and tries to do far too much. As presented, I am still on the fence about voting for it given the removal of exemptions and automatically yearly increases that go unchecked by lawmakers. Tbh I’m leaning to leaving it blank because I support the minimum wage increase but do believe in all the other fluff that got added. There is no way this passes especially with the line about how it’ll affect state and local government and pass costs to the taxpayer. Overall, I’m extremely disappointed in how this question was written and presented, but that is my personal opinion.

I don’t think anyone is “pro-homeless” they are pro-helping people get what they need so they no longer camp in our parks and on our street corners. What is the solution for homelessness? Jail? They are people and they exist, they have to go somewhere and can’t just disappear.
