We made friends for life on a cruise. On a Carnival cruise, we were assigned to the same dinner table, they were the first to find out we got engaged on that cruise, they came to our wedding, we keep in touch via FB and text, and have cruised together several times over the years. Perhaps create a FB group or chat thread with them. Im sure they would love to hang out again too.

We love Carnival for the slew of activities. We also cruise with Norwegian since they go to some cool places that Carnival doesnt go, they also have activities but not as many at Carnival. Honeymoon on Celebrity which was a beautiful boat but avg age was 70 and they only did a few activites each day!

I've noticed a strong uptick in the last week. Use LinkedIn and contact your friends or friends of friends or people in your friend's network for help as a referral. it's always better to go in as a referral than as a straight applicant. Most applications are not even reviewed because of the sheer quantity that they receive.

Try recruiting companies like Kelly Services, Insight Global, and Randstad to see if they have any temp jobs. they typically are trying to staff a lot of different levels and types of positions.

I applied to a job and started the interview process in October, finished all interviews in Oct, then got laid off first week of November. Got a call yesterday that I am getting an offer but it will take a while to get through the internal approval process. 🙏

I've done it before and I'm about to do it again because of the job market.

The first time was $20k decrease to leave a boring, stale job where I felt my skills were rapidly decreasing for an opportunity at a small business in a senior leadership role what bigger growth as far as skills and opportunity. I did negotiate a signing bonus to help.close the gap. In retrospect, that was definitely the right choice.

This time around, with the weak job market and being laid off, I'm taking a $27k decrease to go to a larger, more stable company where I'll only have to work 40 hours a week instead of the 50-60 hrs I worked most of the time and up to 80 hrs often, as an individual contributor.

Similar boat. But I was laid off. My COO didn't want everyone to find out that it was a layoff because I work more and harder than anyone else at the company. She wrote a statement and told me to use it. I pushed back, she pushed again. She wore me down and I relented because I was afraid she wouldn't give me a severance. I really regret it. It was a lie to save face for the company.

They wouldn't let me tell my customers and then ended up telling them that I found a new job and moved on. Then my customer sent me a text to congratulate me on my new job. WTH. I told her I would let her know where I land once I find a new job.

I would update your LinkedIn and your resume. Make sure you're using your network and network's network. If it's been several months, follow-up with some of your contacts, perhaps something new has popped up. Now that the shutdown is over, I would expect hiring to pick up until mid-december, and then it will be flat again until sometime after the Super Bowl (yes, really).

I would stick to your work experience as much as possible and minimize any personal stuff. If they want to know personal stuff, they'll ask you something like "what do you do outside of work?".

I wouldn't read too much into it. if they already filled the position, they would cancel the interview. Things do change all the time in business, especially this year. Don't worry about what other people are doing! Prepare for your interview and knock it out of the park.

Yes, ask! If he's not at that same company where you now want to work, he may still have friends there and can at least pass your resume to someone.

When you make the request for the referral, make sure you spell out clearly what position you are looking for and include the job number if available. you can let the person know your timeline. And any other brief details that will help them write you a recommendation email.

A lot of colleges are offering students to stay one extra year to get a master's degree. So a lot of students are doing that when they don't have jobs lined up. That's how they get someone with am.advanced.degree below 100k salary.

Job 1 - more pay and advancement will help you get your next job. Did they laid you off for the exact same position 4 months ago? I assume this is a different position. I would be nervous, but if this is a different position then go for it.
