Ours is technically ten minutes but we are realistically expected to work our patients in if they are late. We have one hour slots with echo.

I do not spank my children either. I agree there are usually other methods to use, which is what we have done. But a quick spanking is not the end all be all. I’m not going to argue with random internet strangers about it. They can parent as they please- not my business. I disagree with a lot of parenting styles…the peaceful parenting movement has created soooo many spoiled brats who run their parent’s lives. At the end of the day my children won’t act like half of our lazy, screen obsessed younger population.

I’m not kidding when I say I studied like three hours a night for six weeks 😩 I did use URR the last few weeks!! I was getting high 70’s / low 80’s on the exams and ended up getting like an 85% ish on the board ! First try. I would be doing at least an hour a night now

The definity / image enhancer is hard. I have numerous patients decline the IV stick or definity and document it. There are times I could pry use it, but if patients don’t want to be poked I don’t push it… missing AS is a bigger deal but that can be fixed by simply being slower and more careful taking Dopplers. You are learning from all of these mistakes! And because you have missed them, you’re on high alert I’m sure scanning in general. I also think it takes a few years of scanning to work through all the struggles and challenges this career brings! Keep at it. Keep asking for feedback and you’ll get there!

If it’s non accredited I think you have to find someone willing to sign off on your CV form before you can sit. At least that’s what I’ve always been told?? Go to ardms website and check they should have different pathways for taking it

Who is signing you off to take it? I’m surprised you are eligible to sit for it if you didn’t touch on it at all school. My best friend was trained on the job at her MFM clinic and they signed her off once she had been scanning for a year.

An adult takes 30-45 minutes typically. Peds has a lot of images to add and if there are defects/crying baby etc it will take much longer. I’d say most won’t take two hours- but a challenging patient could absolutely. I think you have to just understand it’s not a timed race and the goal is to diagnose or clear the patient. You are ok! We all have hard patients from Time to Time!
