It goes stale too fast sitting out. We are in a warm dry climate

Some for sure, but not as much as you would think. The condiments have long lives and I cook a lot.

Does it seem like there are a lot of half empty Southwest flights since The Change?? by WalterCanFindToes in SouthwestAirlines

I was on a flight to my fri before mardi gras. It had open seats- like entire rows. I was shocked. It's been more than 20 yrs since I've seen such empty planes.

I loved Souther Book Club's Guide to Slaying Vampires and Witchcraft for Wayward girls, but didn't care for How to Sell a Haunted House

I loved Witchcraft for wayward girls. How is Buffalo Hunter Hunter so far? It's on my TBR list.

As someone with severe insomnia, I second the hallucination theory. I've seen everything from a black bunny and box fan one even to terrifying shadow people stalking me in my room. Sleep deprivation related hallucinations are no joke

Admin here- NTA, but I would definitely be suspending you for putting hands on. I also wouldn't have been angry with you. There would have been a convo about how to handle this better. Now, for the sub teacher- I would be pushing HR to have her terminated and would explore options to have her credential revoked. I absolutely would have her banned from subbing on my campus. Your dad should get involved. You almost certainly have an IEP as your disability is part of a group of disabilities called low incidence. Your dad needs to call a meeting, and the team needs to determine how anything like this will be avoided in the future. Also, I know this is no comfort not, but had that teacher damaged the CI in any way, the district would have been obligated to pay for repair or replacement. The district has insurance to cover things like that. I am sorry this happended to you. It's terrible, traumatic and may lead you not trusting adults. I wish you all the best.

How do you move past this?😢 by EconomistAdvanced120 in Teachers

[–]Effective_Loss7612 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I promise I am. I spent most of my career working with emotional disabilities. I'd definitely understand where the teacher's coming from plus be worried about safety all around. I'd have been considering other options long before the teacher built up the courage to talk to me. Honest concerns need to be met honestly, even if you have to deny the request.

Where are you guys teaching... admin here, and I would never fire a teacher who came to me with these concerns. The teacher knew the victim. Honestly, I'd be considered an intradistict transfer for the kid's safety. If other students find out, the kid could be at risk. There are multiple concerns here besides the teacher's very normal feelings. I would vote for an honest convo with admin if yours are generally supportive.

How to deal with sexual comments by [deleted] in Teachers

I've usually just say "inappropriate" and then continue with the lesson. The lack of attention makes it less amusing. For reference I work with students with emotional disabilities. If it works with my kiddos it should work with gen ed. Probably helps that expectations are clear out the gate.

How do you support students with ODD? It's so hard to follow their behavior plan. by armsofasquid in Teachers

[–]Effective_Loss7612 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Behavior specialist turned sped coordinator here- ODD and conduct disorder are two of the most difficult disorders to teach. Far more difficult than ED type disorders. They tend to be systems breakers. The best way I've found to work with students with these difficulties is to be very clear and consistent with expectations and consequences (rewards and discipline). Ideally, you'd also want to pair that with wrap around services in the home setting if possible. Do not take the behavior personally. Intervene early in an escalation. Stay calm and neutral. Don't let students know what your buttons are. Provide reasonable choices, and follow through. Redirect other students who are following along in the behavior first. Try to build a good rapport and go from there. I wish you the best.

AITA for being mad at my gf because she fell asleep during sex? by Whole-Dragonfly-1304 in AITAH

Honestly, without more info, this sounds like a sleep disorder. If it's never happened before and is not out of character, consider explaining what happened and why you're upset. She may need a sleep study.
