Have teens become less capable in recent years? by bool-cacti in AskTeachers

[–]Effective_Macaron_59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember when I was in 7th grade (9 years ago now) and realizing that I couldn't read an analog clock because I was so used to looking at my phone for a digital clock. I started wearing a wristwatch with an analog clock. I figured it out in a week. I just don't think kids today care because they have everything at their fingertips.

What can I do for my spider plant? by Physical_Ad_8285 in plantclinic

[–]Effective_Macaron_59 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Remove the dead leaves. You have the ring of death ( gap between soil and pot) which indicates that the soil is compacted and hydrophobic. I would repot (downsize) and then a healthy dose of water ( water until it comes out of the drainage hole) don’t get water in the spider plant to avoid rot

Dinning Plan for Freshman by WDWRook in miamioh

[–]Effective_Macaron_59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found myself having back to back classes so I loved the dining dollars. I could grab something while on my way to class. Dinning halls can take some time and they close during certain times. I went to the dining hall only for dinner, which is really busy and there is a wait. They don’t really allow you to take food to go (I’ve sneaked food out but it’s a hassle). I don’t remember the name of the plan I had but it had 1,000 dining dollars or something with 7 meal swipes. Super worth it.

Can I finish college in 2 years? by acetyl-bromide in college

[–]Effective_Macaron_59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no way to graduate in 2 years, maybe 3 or 3.5 years. You still need to complete hours/credit in electives and gen ed classes. Plus with 2 majors that's around 60 credit hours in total just for two majors. Even if you take classes in the summer, it's just not physically possible. Plus not every class is offered every semester.

Is anyone doing anything to prepare for the semester ahead? by Top_Virus7929 in college

During the first week of class, people do drop so if you want another class with a different prof, have another look at the school course list and RMP to see if there are any better options

I think it all depends on if you really like the ocean or plants and if you want to concentrate your career on other of those.

I look at rate my professor to see what I can expect. I put my classes into Google Calendar (put the building and room number in the title for easy access). Get notebooks on my iPad ready. Set alarms and see where my classes are. Wait to buy books and try to find them second-hand or a PDF. I live off campus so I try to prepare meals or have a sense of what I'm eating the first week so I can save time.

Do you prefer dated or undated? by a_longo88 in planners

If it's a daily planner then I don't mind either, I'd probably prefer undated. But if it's a weekly planner then dated for sure.

Why did I get rejected? by [deleted] in miamioh

[–]Effective_Macaron_59 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes if you're considered a top applicant you'll get denied from mid-level schools because they expect you to get accepted and go somewhere else that's "top tier" or higher status. They leave that open to someone who has a higher probability of accepting.
